Dr. Paul M. Schafer, Course Portfolio Working Group Leader
Paul Schafer is Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Xavier. He
received
his B.A. in Philosophy at Memphis State University, and received an M.A.
from Villanova University and a Ph.D. from DePaul University, both
degrees also in Philosophy. Dr. Schafer's areas of interest are in the
history of philosophy, especially modern European philosophy, and social
and political philosophy. He received a Rotary Fellowship to study in
Marburg, Germany for one year while researching the early writings of
Karl
Marx, and is currently preparing for publication a volume of Marx's
early writings. At Xavier he is coordinator of the Philosopher's Club
and leads the Course Portfolio Working Group for the Center for the
Advancement of Teaching. Dr. Schafer is also an avid reader, a frequent
and enthusiastic traveler, and a lifelong baseball fan.
