The class seems to be the same as all of my oter theology classes. We always seem to talk about the same things over and over. But I guess the instructor can\’t help that because the Bible was written along time ago and nothing changes. I think that the instructor is very interesting. Mr. Homan tries to make the class as interesting as he can. I like how he tries to make jokes while in class. I just don\’t see why the class has to be sevent five minutes long. I just do not understand why it is that long. I wish someone could terll me why it is that long. Why is the calss not fifty minutes like my other classes. That really puzzles me. What are the extra fifteen minutes for. The class doesn\’t seem to be to challenging so far , but I am pretty sure the class will become much more challenging as we go on. The only thing I did not like about the class was when Michael Homan said that in this class we will have to do more writing than any other course. That really dissapointed me because none of my other clases have me writing alot papers. Also when Michael Homan said that we wil also do the most reading in this class it really dissapointed me but I am up for the challenge. I just love a challenge. My religous background is Baptist but I have gone to Catholic schools since the 8th grade so I know alot about the Catholic religion. I do find some of their beliefs to be a little different than others and I also disagree with some of their different beliefs. I really didn\’t like my Catholic religion classes during highschool. Like praying to Mary. When ever I asked my teacher why did the pray to Mary he replied by saying we do not pray to Mary and then he would say we pray through Mary to God. But my question is why would you need to pray through mary to God when you could just pray to God yourself. Praying through Mary seems to be the same thing as praying to Mary. To me it is all the same. My committment to the course is to try to the best I can in the course. Which will hopefully get me an A in the course if I give it all my best. The only thing I need is some motivation. I will also try to study my hardest and do the best on the exams and I will also do my best on my papers. I am also expecting the calss projects to be very interesting. I just hope they do not take up alto of my time because I do have other class projects. But I think that I will be alright as long as I organize my schedule and have good time management. I believe that this will be a fun a nd interesting semester even though I really do not like Catholic religion classes. After reading the course committments I feel that I can follow and fulfill every one of them. When it comes to academic honesty and integrity I can say that I take pride in my work and studying hard. I will not let anyone cheat off of me nor will I cheat off of anyone. I really despise those who cheat. To me getting caught cheathing is a very serious issue and it would be very embarissing to get caught and especially to have to explain to your parents why you got caught cheating. It would also be very embarassing to have to explain to school officials why I was cheating. I think that those who cheat are only hurtinjg themselves. Our parents use their hard earned money to send us to school and when we cheat we not only cheating ourselves but we are also cheating our parents out of their money that they spend to send us to this great institution. I feel tha an education is something that we must value and cheating is just a way of beign lazy. Cheating in the long will only hurt your grade too. Because if an instructor uses some of the the same questions on a later exam or a final that person who cheated will not know the answer. When it comes to cell phones and beepers in the class I think if a students pkone rings it is very disrespectful to the instructor. I do not thik it is that hard to put your phone on vibrate or just press the power switsh to turn it off. But it never ceases to fail, every class I attend their is someone with a cell phone on and it goes off. I always thought that college was for mature adults. I do not think it is that hard to turn off a cell phone. If I was a teacher at an university and a students cell phone went off I would be very upset. I would probably dsimiss that student for the day. College is place where we are suppose to mature and following instructions is apart of maturity and it is also apart of life. So if a student cannot follow simple instructions like turning off a cell phone then obviously they still need some more growing up to do because this is not high school. I feel that we are lucky to be able to have cell phones in the class. Because the school could easily not permit them in the class rooms. But since we are in an institution of higher learning I think that we should grow up and cherish the oppurtunity that they are giving us. The school is trying to treat us like adults but their are some who are just ungreatful and take every thing for granted. THeir are many who do follow the rules but their are always some bad apples out their spoiling it for those who want to do right and follow the rules. It is a shame that the instructor has to even ask us to turn off our cell phones. Out of common curtiousy we should already have our cell phones and pagers off. College is not some club it is an institution of higher learning and we should cherish the fact that we are able to attend such a University. THe next course committment that is next is a positive attitude and respect towards the instructor. I believe that eveyone needs to be respected. I think that if the instructor shows me respect then I should show him or her respect. Respect is one of the biggest issues in the worold today. And I think that if you want respect you should show some respect. Even though that is a very often used cliche it should be taken very seriously. Respect is something thatis earned not given off of the back. But since we are in an institution of higher learning then I think that the instructor and his or her students should start off respect right away. But I think that the instructor should not abuse his or her authority and the student should not think that he or she can disrespect the instuctor or any of the students. To sum it all up I pride myself on respect and think that it is a very serious issue. I believe that comig to class with a positive attitude is a very important too. I think that everyday we should have a positive attitude because we could have easily not have died in our sleep. We are not guaranteed to live another day but by the grace of God he allows us to see another glorious day. So for us to be able to attend this great institution the we call Xavier University we should be very thankful. We should also be thankful and have a positive attitude because there are many people who are not as fortunate as many of us. Some People wish that they has an oppurtunity to attend such a magnificient school like Xavier University. So for someone to come to class with a negative attitude is ridiculous. They should be trying their best to get the best education possible. That is why everyday I thank God for waking up and letting me see another day and just letting me have a chance to get a great education. I try my best to leave my dorm room with a positive attitude even though I have to be up at a very early time. I try to leave my room with a smile on my face. But I also think that the instructor should come to class with a positive attitude because no one wants to come to class and listen to professor with a negative attiitude. I just think that we should all be greatful to be in the situation that we are in. Because we could easily be in some third world country starving and suffering.After reading the course committments I feel that I can follow and fulfill every one of them.
