My favorite blogs last week are, Jimi Song, Ashley Kelly, Kawyanda Prather, Meghan Shannon, Ryan Griffin, Brian Adams, Lanika Evans, Ashley Jackson, Shelitta Myers, and Mimi Mommay. Not all were as long as others, not all I understood so much as others but these are the main ones I had comments on.
For Jimi Song, when reading her blog it didn’t make that much sense to me. It starts off with her feeling that she doesn’t care as much about the world and the things in it as she would like to, or that is what I think she was trying to say. It was vague and left a lot of question on what exactly was the point of her ideas and how she would fix it. It seems that she knew what she was talking about and she wrote it as if we were her and where in her head while she was writing it. Sometimes I do that, for example when writing in a journal or diary. I jot down things because it is for my reading and when reviewing in the next ten years I will understand what I was talking about but it will be code to others. It’s just like jotting down notes of how you will write a paragraph before going into detail about each thing. It would probably make sense if I knew what she was talking about already and was just hearing about her opinion of that idea. When she starts talking about she doesn’t consider others I thought she might meant that the people walking next to you might be your best friend but because you have no consideration for others and don’t care to talk you push them to the side and you lose someone that could have been a friend. That people are so wrapped up in there own world they don’t pay attention to there surroundings. Wrapped up in there life instead of getting to know people. Jimi talks about her American family that gives me the understanding that she is not from here. Maybe the paragraph is about meeting people. She might be caught up in missing her family at home and making them proud that she ahs no time to make friends. Coming to a new place can feel lonely, and her buggiest problem might be meeting the right people and in order to make her life better she needs a friend base. Her project might be to go out and find friends. Meeting friends, or real friends, can benefit your happiness. No one wants to be alone if you have a friend you can share problems and get through life helping each other.
Her problem I can somewhat relate to. I’ve come from California to Louisiana. I am in a foreign place but I have family in Louisiana just none that I know and came out here knowing a handful of people. I still feel alone. The people I know here are not truly my friends in the state that I feel know one is here to turn to. I don’t have true friend out here, not ones that understand me or will help me with my problems I face day to day. When going through anything I have to face it myself. My best friend is back home so I call her from time to time to keep my head on straight and go through the next day but it is not the same as having someone right there. If her idea is what I think it is then I understand why it is important for her because true friend are necessary in life.
With Ashley Kelly the biggest problem in the world is AIDS, everyone would agree it is a problem. Her best way to help is through information. I think that is a great idea. Fro instance, with Africa, the biggest problem is lack of knowledge about the virus AIDS. Many believe that sleeping with a young virgin will cure their disease. If they had enough resources and information they wouldn’t dare destroy someone’s life. They are spreading the disease more in hope that they will be cured. Knowledge of something goes a long way. In America we know enough that through sex whether virgin or not it can be spread. The people who choose to have sex and knowingly have AIDS virus they are doing it for other reasons than a cure. Therefore knowledge goes along way but more so we need to teach the importance of sex. Many men and women have sex just for the pleasure. They are not taught the real importance it is to the person. Americans have sex casually either to keep a man, pleasure, or just to have more numbers to count that they have had sex with. In America many parents or sons and daughters do not know what it means. For me, sex is the best thing you can give to your partner. You are getting something special. That should be taught in homes, schools, talked among friends etc… The news that sex is more than just pleasure should be spread around the world. For many know the risks and still don’t believe it can happen to them, or that there partner would tell them they have it.
Kwaynda Parther talks about abortion. This subject is touchy for many because everyone has a strong opinion about it. This brings up a lot of debates. Her method of helping abortion is to teach youth about sex. This is a good idea but I fell the same way to help this is the same way with Ashley Kelly, when talking about AIDS. Teach the importance of sex itself. Many know the risks, you have sex there is potential of getting something or becoming pregnant. Our youth know the risks but it doesn’t stop them from having sex. We’ve all heard of AIDS and may or may not know people with this deadly disease. Even the ones who might have someone close to them, friend or family member, with AIDS it still doesn’t completely stop them from having unprotected sex. They are having sex for the dumbest reason, curious, or my boyfriend might leave me. There is no teaching of its importance. Men do it because it makes them feel like a man, but what happens when you are only fifteen and have no choice of becoming a father. What happens if your parents are so hurt by your actions that you are kicked out and left with a family and the only job you can get is at McDonalds, sex will turn you into a real man now. Sex was created for one thing, the production of life and to give your partner one of the best things you can. Not for the reasons we Americans view it as.
Meghan Shannon wants to give detail explanation about what kind of insurance plan customer are getting. This is a good one. Many sign up for things but don’t know exactly what there benefits are.
Ryan Griffin wants to help poverty, what a big task. He feels knowing the different psychological reason of being poor can help. I think he is going to go out and teach people about being poor. Knowledge will help his cause, but I don’t understand exactly how you can get food out of that. We all know there are poor people out there for many different reason in which he mentioned, divorce, lack of education, and having a sate of mind of being poor. I’m not sure what we can do to help the poor other than giving food and clothes, but maybe he will get a good result through teaching people about the poor and why they are poor.
Brian Adams is going to help fix youth vote. There is always this big question if one person can be heard. There are statistics that show my generation didn’t vote but the question is why. My generation is not too big on politics more into entertainment gossip. Why we are this way, I don’t know. Hopefully Brian will bring our attention towards politics and voting this year.
Larika Evans and Ryan Griffins are both working on poverty. Unlike Ryan Griffin she will be starting a charity drive giving away food and clothes as well as being a mentor to the needy children of New Orleans. This is a good idea; maybe Ryan and Meghan can’t look at each other’s projects and help one another.
Ashely Jackson chose President Bush, AIDS, and teen pregnancy, a lot to work on. She believes everyone needs to vote in this next election, to get Bush out of presidency. Her reason for this is the same as any anti- Bush he has affect our country in many negative ways and needs to get out of office. This is true but unfortunately I don’t know who to vote for. I know President Bush is evil but what is Keary deal. I really haven’t heard of much he has to say. No, I don’t pay attention to politics, so me voting on don’t think is a good idea. If Keary gets into office is he any better of a candidate. What are his ideas for America? How will he help? I know I need to pay attention and make a difference where I can but politics is so boring, it gets hard to pay attention to. I basically just listen to what others say about each candidate instead of taking manners into my own hands, I know this is bad but I can’t help it.
Shelitta Myers wants to help with the AIDS virus. Her idea is that you bring someone in with AIDS and let them tell you there day to day struggle. This is a good one but also many will look at this and have sex right after class. I believe, just like I said in my other paragraph, teach the importance and value of sex.
Mimi Mommay wants to give information about death rates, drug abuse and war on Americans. What she is trying to cure or help I am not sure, maybe she just feels we need knowledge to know these things because it is good to know. Whatever the reason it’s a good idea I would like to know this information, especially anything about the war. I’ve watched more information about entertainment than the war and I think with the election coming up I would like to anything about what is going on in America.
Just last night I was watching law and order and there was this woman that killed on of the soldiers that captured her brother in prison and exploited him, just like the picture we seen in the news lately showing how the soldiers tormented there prisoners. Her brother was a prisoner and the soldiers abused him, but he was soon let out because the woman’s husband, who killed the solider, was a head guy at an oil company and talked to some people who talked to some people who let him free. Three months after her brother was at a coffee shop when the American soldiers blew up the car next to him, and he died. Her sister was seeking revenge in America and killed one of the soldiers who tormented her brother. Besides all that she mentioned that they are doing a better job in protecting the oil than the innocent bystander, I know it was just a TV show, but it sounds like something that is partially true to what is going on in Iraq. One thing is for sure America will never be the same, because of Bush and sending our soldiers to war.
On the other hand if we had not gone to war what could we have done to punish the corporate for the twin towers. Would we have just let all those innocent people die and then go on with life? There is probably another route we could have gone besides war or when we got there done things differently, such as not degrading the prisoners. I wish w could have done things differently but I don’t have the answer and its to late now.
