Here\’s my reflection…. and I\’m out

This week’s blog is to write a reflective blog seriously evaluating my project stating if I think I improved the world and to what extent. Also, we have to state what our future plans are for this project.
As I have said more than enough times today, I greatly feel that my project improved the world. What makes up this world, people do. To whom did I volunteer my time, I volunteered to people. What more can I say? I believe with the gratitude and great appreciation I was shown, that I touched the lives of the people I visited with on Thanksgiving. I also believe that it will just as great on Christmas Eve. The food bank and channel two were very thankful the time and effort that was given to the cause. They were happy and I was happy and the people of less fortune that I came in direct contact with were happy. Were ALL were happy. I must say that I do not volunteer my time have to talk about it constantly as I have had to do this semester for this class. To me, it is just something that I do and will continue to do at the pace I chose to do it. I must say that from the formulation of this course project that it has made me feel like I was forced to give my time outside of the scope that I already allot for myself each year. If I chose to allot more it should be because I have the extra time to give more and not because I have to do this because we are graded on actually having implemented a project. Just thought I needed to REFLECTIVE on that for a moment. But besides that, I did what I had to do and will continue to do what is already in progress. I can not improve the world all at once but I can make a difference in the lives of a few people at a time. This is what I know that I have done and I know that my efforts were greatly valued, directly and indirectly, for the time that I volunteered whether it was through my church, with the Greater Baton Rouge food bank or whether it was in working with this year’s 2004 Feed A Family food drive sponsored by our local channel two station.
I plan to do what I can when I can just as I have did for the past ten years of living in Texas through the various companies I worked for like Texas Instruments, Celanese Chemicals and American General. Through these companies there were many volunteering efforts that were made by me that I do not care to mention. It is those type projects that I will continue to do after this class. I volunteer out of sincerity of wanting to help, not to gain any form of recognition from it (okay, I have accepted a gazillion t-shirts from organizations I have volunteered with but I usually was wearing it at the time of my volunteering so this really does not count). I plan to keep doing what I have been doing upon my return to Baton Rouge which is to volunteer at the holidays as I have done for so many years now. My time does extend to other efforts during the year which I do not care to share but I am one hundred percent sure that what I do makes a difference in the world of the peoples lives that I encounter and it is what I enjoy doing.
