Rashad Butler- I really wish you would have said alot more on your page but I know you’re right about the delpleting resources, it’s getting ridiculous, I posted: I love your idea, it seems to make enough sense, especially since our resources ar ebeing depleted at a very rapid pace, I hope you post more later.
Chima Udenwu- I am guessing that you plan on trying to stop people from seeing things as black and white, and that your project is just that, that will be very hard. It’s part of the culture now to label people and their abilities because of their color, to be honest, that is what this whole country was built upon so if you really wanna tackle that, go ahead, I don’t blame you. A lot of people think my dream is impossible too.
Anala Jatala- I love your idea, that is something that most people seem to be overlooking right now, because of the war. Everyone is concentrated on what is happening in the east instead of what is going on at home. One thing I would offer is that the people who abuse their kids usually don’t think that they are doing anything wrong, so it will take more than a few parenting classes. I mean really, denial is a good deception for unhappy people. Educating children is great, but when they go home, the rules change, and it is hard for a child to choose a stranger who will help, over their parents who feed them. Perhaps a brother sister program would help, so that the child would have someone closer to their age to talk to.
Daisy Otuturolo- Great idea! At first I was a little dissapointed because you said that you would go to the homesless shelters to give food, I’m thinking, Why? The homesless shelters are both federally and privately funded. Besides that, in New Orleans, not even most poor families will bring their kids to a homeless shelter to eat. I know it’s is sad but a lot of people would reather eat noodles and rice everyday of their earthly lives rather than go to a homeless shelter. Trust me, I know, my family got to live in one for $100 for six months, in that time my mother was able to get back on her feet, so to me it was a good plan. When I hear or see other people struggling, I suggest the shelter and they all think I’m trippin. But anyway, then I read that you were going to deliver them in the projects? You don’t have to go that far, most everyone in there has foodstamps, why don’t you go right into Gertown, touch the hearts of the families that are closest to the school. You might inspire some of the kids to stay in school so they can help impoverished people one day.
Tegan Smith- Maybe you could just start a new organization with Daisy! Both of you could get stduents faculty and businesses around here to donate renting out a building, then you could make an agreement with one of the property owners in Gertown, maybe Xavier has a free building in that neighborhood. Then y’all could announce donation days, the news station is right behind DePorres, and collect food, make baskets, then distribute them to the hungry kids in GERT TOWN, they are the closest to us, so they have the most immediate affect. Y’all done got me thinking, but I don’t want to steal your idea.
Brandon Dawkins- Unity is something that the world is lacking, I think it happened when Europeans realized they had a head-up against their comptetion at the time. Going through the church is a good idea but I think you should keep in mind that most people in church already know how to behave in a unified manner, usually it’s the heathens that don’t know how to act!
Alexis Reed- Even though your blog isn’t finished, implementing a program in school sounds like a good idea, it’s always best to start young, right? I think a lot of youth feel the same way you do, they just don’t think that their opinions matter. Besides that the condition that the New Orleans public school system is in, you will be welcomed in any classroom in the state. Positivity (I know it’s not a word) is not frequent in the lives of our children.
Meredith Sanders- I didn’t see anything posted.
Brian Winn- I like your whole plan, especially the part about money not being as important as getting the word out there. I doubt that anyone in the projects will listen to you–not because of any econical or education factors, just because to most people ignorance is bliss. As long as no one wants to go and get checked, they won’t take it serious, and believe me a lot of people are positive and don’t know or care.
James Woods- You are a genius, you never would know it by the way you sit in class all quiet, but then again, I am a genius too, and I’m quiet also. I feel you with the radical revolutinary movement thing. I feel the same way, I could go on and on buy I’ll just talk to you about it. I didn’t know if your plan was to make an old people day or make new friends that are about the whole revolution thing, but either way, I loved your opinions and tangents. It’s about time that old people got some recogniton, no one listens to the ones that know what they are talking about. I always thought that the high schools should join up with the senior citizens in their neighborhoods, as a mentor type situation, I never knew how to get started though. Good luck.
Vusumzi Kempele- I just read his entry because I recognize him but he only had one entry so I don’t have much to say about it. I really agree with him about people formulating their own theories about the Bible. It is no different from any other book, people can twist the words an manipulate them as much as they need in order to make it say what they want. Personally, I think that every part of everything has a spiritual purpose. As a human, I don’t understand it, and I a happy being ignorant since I dodge real responsibility. I don’t disagree with any religions or practices as long as they don’t forces others to participate criticize other beliefs. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, as long as they believe in something, even if it’s nothing, all the way and they aren’t fickle with it. Your uncl e has a point anout the marijuana. I’m not quoting that “it opens your mind” thing put I think it does represent either a defilement of the human body in the form of humans first sexual intimacy, or an introduction to an alterate state of being i.e “being high”. To me it makes sense, just think about how many other ‘genius’ created their best work while high.
