My Project

This pass week has been very long. So many things have been going through my mind I thought I was going crazy. I have so much I need to get done over the couple of days that I don’t know if I’m going to survive it. My weekend wasn’t too enjoyable because of this. I had mostly school work on my mind the whole time. I had almost forgotten about this blog. This semester is just crazy. I’m slowly understanding why procrastination isn’t good. I have a whole bunch of things that I need to read and many essays to start writing. I also have quizzes coming up this week that I need to study for. With Mardi Gras coming up, I want to get as much of my work done beforehand so I can enjoy it a little more. Right when I get back to school I have my first essay for this class due and I also have my first Chemistry test coming up. This will be a long and stressful week for me. Anyway, it took me a second to figure exactly what you wanted to write about this time. It took a few minutes for me to think about what I was going to write but I figured it out.
The problem that I decided to address from last week was discrimination. My focus was on this country alone. Discrimination is problem in our country that people have to deal with everyday. It could also be associated with the many problems we have anyway. I didn’t want to do world poverty because it has already been addressed by many different organizations. Every time I turn on the television there are commercials on about organizations trying to get people to donate ten cents a day to feed twenty kids. So I feel that is kind of played out. I didn’t want to do racism because I feel that has been done enough and it could be covered under discrimination. Greed is going to always be a problem so that is hard to work out. There is no way you could get people to give money when they don’t have to.
The first thing I would do to get my project up and running is to start a starting campaign. I would use it as a way to get endorsements and funding to push my projects. Also, it would be a big help in getting people to help me get all the work done. Once I would I get all the backing I need I would start making commercials like the truth movement. I would have different races and genders in them going through the different things that they experience everyday and at the end of them I would have the words “What’s the Problem” over a black background. That seems like it would be a good catch phrase. Your job as a promoter, which is basically what I would be doing, is making something that would be catchy and I think that phrase would be very catchy. Along with the commercials I would have billboards made with different scenes of discrimination being showed with my catch phrase above it. Hopefully I would get a “vote or die” started again.
Sticking with the Truth type of campaigning, I start pointing out companies who are seemingly having problems with discrimination. I would their employees who are experiencing it to appear in some commercials and on different talk shows. I would get different people to speak about what they have gone through, or have “experts” dropping facts about the problems of discrimination. Oprah would be my first choice of a talk show to go on since it’s so popular to one of the biggest groups of discriminated people, women. This wouldn’t be likely because she retired this past week. Anyway, hopefully the companies would feel the pressure and change. Employees of other companies would start speaking up and start bringing about changes at others jobs. It would take that type of unified effort in order to bring about the change. Since jobs places aren’t the only source of discrimination I would get people who were harassed by police officers, people who were not allowed to participate in different sport because of their gender, and people who were turned down by banks for loans because of their sex or race (It does happen). The next thing that I would do is get some major companies to do some of the commercials showing them with minority and female workers in high positions. Other companies would begin to start hiring more minorities because they would see how successful it would be. Also, the major companies would get a lot of praise which would mean more business, which small companies would also want. I would then do the same with people who were harassed by police officers. I would try to obtain tapes of it happening and put those departments on blast. To deal with the sport problem I would have the ideal athlete for that sport being beaten by an unlikely, or passed over, opponent.
Honestly, the most important thing for me to do is to get someone that is good a public speaking and has some prestige. The reason is because it would be hard for me to go about a lot of these things myself because truthfully, I don’t have much power in society. People would listen to someone like Bill Clinton or Barack Obama more than they would listen to me. Also, their political backing would actually help in bringing about some change in the government. They would be more credible spokespersons because I don’t anyone would really want to someone like Al Sharpton all the time. Anyway, I would get my speakers to speak not only about why we need the change, but what the individual could do to bring about the change and put themselves in better positions. People always forget that unfortunately you are classified by appearance before you ever speak a word. I would get speakers to talk about how you should dress properly and present yourself better to employers and others. You will always be treated the same if you don’t change yourself. If my plan works discrimination wouldn’t be a big problem anymore.

    Hi Ryan!
The truth campaign and the ads sound good. Just because you feel that you don’t have enough credentials to have an impact on somebody doesn’t mean you can’t start. This idea would give you the edge you need. In any situation, it’s all what you want and how bad do you want it. Great ideas.

  2. Naquita Edwards Says:

I think your ad would be a good idea, and if you put people on the spotlight about their wrongdoings they are more likely to make a change so i think thats good.

  3. Daisy O Says:

What’s The Problem?….I like it. You certainly have big ideas. Your plan sounds wonderful, but just think about how much money that would cost. Maybe you could address greed, make people feel guilty, and get your discrimination ads going as well. The sky is the limit, so fly.

  4. Chloe Frye Says:

Hey Ryan. This is Chloe Frye. I think your project would be very successful in making people more aware of discrimination. Hopefully, through this type of awareness, things will change. Do you think that your campaign will take the back seat to the truth campaign? What type of situations will you present to the public that haven’t already been presented in black history films or talk shows? Your phrase “what’s the problem” is very nice too. Would you get random people from the street such as the truth campaign and pay them to be in the commercial or just volunteers? I’m sure you could get volunteers. When I was in Washington D.C., they were filming the truth commercial with all the body bags and my friends and I were walking past the site looking just like you see the people do in the commercial. There was a girl who was in charge of grabbing random people of all races and ethnic backgrounds to walk past and look. They had to sign contracts stating that it would be okay for them to be on t.v. and they were paid $2. Unfortunately we didn’t have time to come back and be in the commercial. It was a good experience to see it being made though. Would you only speak out on discrimination amongst one racial group, or will it be a more general scope of discrimination? Whichever you choose to do, I would suggest that you incorporate all races in your commercials and ads so that the public knows that all races, not just the one or ones you will be focusing one, are in the fight against racism. Great idea!!

  5. Kaamilya Says:

    Hi Ryan,

Discrimination is a very good topic. I think your plan may actually work if you go though with it. I also think people would listen to someone like you because you are somebody and if you stand up, others in your community that feel the same way will also. Also, you said that alot of organizations try to help raise money for poverty and it’s getting played out but I think that most of those informercial address the issue of poverty in other countries and we need to stop the poverty in our own country. I also always wondered if all the money is really going towards the cause or is 15 cent going into the organizations profit. Example: employess pay etc. Well, thats just something to think about. Overall, your project is good. Good Luck!

  6. nicole henderson Says:

I agree discrimination is a major problem in the world. When will we be able to look past color, sex, nationality, and sexual orientation? When will notice that we are all the same? We are all the same race….Human. You project sounds great. If you are able to get national politicians to address the problem of discrimination, that would be great. I love the commercial idea. That will get everyone thinking about their own prejudices and maybe open the door for jobs and opportunities to people who previously didn’t have a chance. Good Luck.

  7. Brandon Dawkins Says:

Discrimination is a huge issue in this country. You have a lot of good ideas of how to fix the discrimination problem. Getting political and financial backing is essential to your project. I believe you have a great plan, and once you get some backing you will be able to fix the problem.

  8. Latonya Smith Says:

Financial support that you really need right now. I really like your idea about the truth campaign, you should really work on it.

  9. Lucy Says:

I like your ideas about how we can battle didcrimination.Geting a well known public speaker will truely change peoples attitudes about discrimination. Do you have other resources to obtain the neccesay funds for your project?

  10. Christina Taylor Says:

I believe that your idea on the ads and commercials are great. I really like the Truth commercials, they get right in the face of those who are endorsing tobacco and thats the way to do it. I believe if you take an approach like them you will make a big impact.

  11. Dr Homan Says:

Good topic, keep us posted in your blog about how your project works out. I also think discrimination is a big problem.

  12. Alexis Reed Says:

Hello, my name is Alexis and I thought that your project was very interesting and it is something that our country needs to address. It is a fact that behind every campaign there needs to be some type of funding taking place.

  13. Anonymous Says:

Hi Ryan, how are you? My name is Chavell Scott, you know, your fellow classmate. Anyway, I read your blog. You have a very unique problem. DISCRIMINATION. I like your approach in how you plan to handel this problem. Not to be too finicky, but racisim is always pertained to blacks. As a black woman myself, I see that there are alot of problems with my race, but what people fail to realise is that what goes around comes around. If there are white people being mistreated by blacks then when that same white person comes into contact with a black person that he or she feels can be taken advantage of, then that white person will act out what has been acted out on him. the same will go for Vietnamese, Jews, Muslims, Chinaese, Japanese, or over the seas people. But, I was disturbed by one thing that I read in your blog, I was loving everything but this comment, “Anyway, I would get my speakers to speak not only about why we need the change, but what the individual could do to bring about the change and put themselves in better positions. People always forget that unfortunately you are classified by appearance before you ever speak a word. I would get speakers to talk about how you should dress properly and present yourself better to employers and others. You will always be treated the same if you dont change yourself.” I felt that this was not a good comment to use to help your project, to me it made it seem like you were for discriminaton, even thoough there may have been some other intent. Blog me back and tell me please about this, or holla at me in class.

My Project

Wow, perhaps I should have picked problems that I would have been able to make a plan that I felt would really make a difference. It’s difficult to just say, “Okay here is what I’m going to do to change the world.” It’s kind of overwhelming to look at it like little ole me changing the world. I’m taking the world by storm one city, state, country at a time, yeah right. Still nothing bets a quitter than some who tries, so here I go. I guess I can’t get too down on myself because how can I measure success. Even if I change one person, that change might have a profound impact on the world that I might never know. So it is very possible that I could take the world by storm! (Sorry I had to buck myself up so I could make a plan.)
After all that, I’m deciding to address the issue of prejudice behavior. I feel as though being prejudice doesn’t just affect that person, everyone around them feels the effect. You might not realize it or see it directly, but it’s there. Prejudice behavior is like a disease, it becomes contagious and is very easily caught. Now is the time to create the antidote. Don’t just do it for yourself, do it for your loved ones, your future. Think about it, if this behavior is displayed around young a child they will pick it up like a sponge. They are at the age when they simply mimic what they observe. Would you want to be known as the parent of a murderer (please no offense to anyone who is). It’s time to put an end to prejudice.
The problem that I feel I could do the most for, as of right now, is to assist in reducing the amount of prejudice behavior that I see among my surroundings (which include Xavier, work, home, and among friends). I guess the first thing that would have to be done would be the change in me. Although I have tried for many years to stop talking about people and have been unsuccessful, I’m going to have to stop for real now. This is the problem that I’ve chosen and I can’t lead by example if I’m part of the problem. I already know that this task is going to go be ridiculously difficult for me, but nothing that is not worth struggling for is not worth obtaining! Thus, my plan for myself is to include reducing how much I talk about people daily. When I hear friends and associates gossiping or talking badly about someone I will address the issue and if they choose to continue I will simply tell them I can’t be apart of that and walk away. It’s strange that when I get around certain people I just fall right back into the trap of talking about people I don’t even know, that’s why part of my plan is to stay away from people that I know do that very thing.
Now, you might be thinking, “That’s fine and everything, but how do you plan on contributing to society as a whole?” Well, that’s were I run into the problem, but I think I have an idea. If it doesn’t work quite like I plan then I’ll just change it. Part of making a good plan is having a backup and being slightly flexible. The first step is to get the facts out there in a way that people will want to change themselves. If it’s one thing that I have learned in the time I’ve been on this Earth, is that you can’t change a person who doesn’t want to change for themselves. So I might what you gradually lead into how prejudice behavior can become so natural that a person might not realize that they’re doing it. Perhaps when someone start speaking badly about a person based on how the person looks, speaks, or behaves, then I might interject that the other viewpoint be examined. It allows helps to try to see the perspective of another before judging. Everyone doesn’t know what their neighbor has been through to make them the person they are today. Perhaps if people were more empathetic, I wouldn’t be addressing this problem today.
Another step that I feel needs to be taken is addressing the youth. Like it has been said many times before, the children are the future. Children pick up there habits, culture, ideas, etc. from what they see there parents and other around them display. If children and young adults don’t have an example of people talking badly about others or degrading someone so that they can feel more important than they have no one for formulate the behavior from. It’s up to the adults to become examples for the youth! Parents need to take their role as parents seriously. It’s difficult to raise a child when one is prepared, but the society we live in now, people are having babies for all the wrong reasons and not to mention not prepared in the least. I’m not here to tell anyone how to leave their lives or raise there children, but the truth is the truth and even God says the truth shall make you free. Parents and other adults (I say that for two reasons: 1. it takes a tribe, community, to raise a child and 2. children don’t always look at there parents as role models) need to educate the youth on the importance of prejudices. People become bitter, angry, and unpredictable when all that hatred becomes bottle up inside. Think of how upset a parent would be if there child was killed simply because they were a jock, that’s part of the reason the young men at Columbine went on a rampage. They became engulf in their hatred and rage and got tired of being criticized for being themselves and acted out. I think I’m going to have to revise my pan in the future so I can better address the issue of reaching parents, but as for now I can talk to the people I know with children. Word of mouth is a powerful thing, that has been proven with gossip and tabloids, so why not se it for something positive. I could also create a chain letter on the email. Email is something that a lot of people have access to and can read a large amount of people in a short time period. People send emails to me about how a child is dying of cancer and if I send it on they get a certain amount of money from a sponsor. I don’t know if it’s a scam of not, but I send it on in blind faith that it does some good. Well this is no different. Our world is dying around us and we are the only one’s ho can make a difference. Perhaps when people are faced with the truth they will be empowered to make a change. (Why do I hear tat Michael Jackson song in the background? Idea…maybe if I even figure out how to make a webpage I could make one devoted to my project and people could I’ve me feedback on how I could reach more people and serve as a means of knowing if I’m helping anyone…hhhhmmmmm, that just might work.)
Well there you have it. Last week I presented three problems that I felt were rather important to the world (health care, war, and prejudice behavior). This week I picked which problem I felt I could do the most for in this semester and I decide on prejudice behavior. I’m really moved by this topic and hope that it really does bring about a change not only in me, but in others as well.

You did a very good job on this Blog. I completely agree with you regarding your ideas and your project. I agree with you realistic approach. It is impossible for any of us to completely change the world, but I believe that changing one person is a positive change and just might have an effect on others, kind of like a domino effect. It is very easy to get caught up in gossip and talking about people. I know first hand from experience. I will be the first to admit I can be shallow sometimes when it comes to talking about others. I never talk about people because of their race, religion, disability or anything they cannot help; usually its about caddy, materialistic things, like what they are wearing or how they fix their hair. I can say that I have grown out of that (my friends and I were gossip queens in high school), but I have been out of high school for 5 years now and have matured and learned that talking about someone can really hurt them, no matter what it is being said. Occasionally, I do catch myself talking about someone else, but now I always try to stop and think about the other persons feelings. I think that you chose a good project to implement. I also chose a project that I myself could do a project that is realistic. I really liked your idea about setting up a web page. Everything revolves around technology in todays world. I think that a webpage would really reach out to people and help make a difference. I think you did a very good job on this Blog. Keep up the good work!

Your project has a great purpose. Being more of moral issue, and not something that can be taught in school, I understand when you say finding a solution was difficult. The way on person feels about another person is simply just the way they feel about themselves. I agree when you say it starts with our youth, because like everything else, children listen and repeat everything they hear and see. Being a person old enough to set an example your plan to start with yourself first is a good idea. I dont believe you change others without examining yourself and changing those exact problems within yourself first. The e-mail idea is creative and just might work, because millions of people read and forward e-mails daily. Overall changing your view of one person can change the way they view themselves and ultimately change the way we view the world.

  3. Joliette Barnum Says:

Hello, Ashley. It’s great that you have decided to deal with the problem of prejudice in the world. Preducial behavior is a major problem that is sometimes quiet, but often widespread. Your project of leading by example and spreading the word may or may not have a “large” effect though. I don’t know if chain emails work on changing people’s behavior. But that’s because I automatically delete anything that tells me to “forward this email or…you don’t love God, or someone will die”, etc. Maybe you could implement activities with this plan that would include people of different ethnic and social backgrounds coming together to accomplish some goal or to just have fun. That way, these people could see that their stereotypes of each other don’t hold true, and they will become at least civil toward each other, if not friends. I wish you the best on your project. Good job on resolving to not talk about people! I’m working on that too.

  4. Anonymous Says:

Whoo, talk about being the bigger person, Ashley I commend you on your efforts, I know how hard it will be, because you and I are struggling, with the sme problem, the thing is I can’t stop telking about people, but I hate it when people I hang out with talk about people, it that wrong? As everyone knows bad habits die hard, but I’m with you on this, how about you challenge people, I was at the dinner table with Chuckie and he challenged Jay, Reece, and I to play a game called “10 nice things,” it sound easy but it was hard, I had to quit. With all of that said I dont know where I was going with that but Good Luck.

  5. Aarika M. Diggs Says:

oops the last one was mine

  6. Dennis Steverson Says:

That one hits home. Ashley you should definetly not hang around me. In high school I was horrible at talking about random people. I never really saw it as being prejudice. I just saw it as a way to make my friends laugh.(I was pretty good at it to) Since I have gotten to college, I have done a little bit better at not pre-forming opinions and talking about people i do not know, because like you said I can not possibly know what everyone has been through. What I talk about may really hurt someone’s feelings though I do my best not to let them hear it. The ppoint that I am trying to makeis that i realize how prejudice it is to pre-form opinions about people i do not know and in the future I will try to stop. (But you should see this girl nest to me. What was she thinking?)

  7. Dr Homan Says:

Prejudice is a huge problem. What exactly will you physically do about it beyond theory or should do this etc. I don’t think it is impossible for individuals to change the world, though it is difficult.

My Project

Finding a solution to a problem as biggest as violence is harder than trying to find a needle in a hays stack. It is extremely difficult, but not impossible to find a long term solution for violence. This problem can not be diminished but it can be minimized. There are numerous ways to do this, which I will attempt to discuss in details. I can begin to minimize this problem by being actively involved in anti-violence programs, developing a parent and children after school/ weekend educational activity program, and going to radio or television shows to discuss violence.
There are numerous anti-violence programs that have been formed to help people who are mistreated and verbally abused by others. Program such as Keys To Safer Schools is a non-profit organization which is dedicated to helping parents, schools and other youth oriented organizations to have a safer place to learn, work and play in today’s climate of rising youth. This organization also launches campaigns to raise the awareness and find solutions within a Community of how to stop the violence taking place in our schools, homes and communities. Neighborhood Watch is also an anti- violence program that has help many communities battle violence. This is a citizen’s involvement program where citizens, in cooperation with the New Orleans Police Department, directly participate in the detection and prevention of crime in their neighborhood. Citizens involved in Neighborhood Watch are trained how to recognize suspicious or criminal activities and how to report these activities to the N.O.P.D. Neighborhood Watch Groups are trained by District Crime Prevention Officers focusing on particular crime problems in their neighborhood.
Neighborhood Watch works because people want to assume a more active role in making their community a safer place to live. It would be impractical to place a law enforcement officer on every street corner in every neighborhood, but very practical to utilize those residents who live there. Residents within a neighborhood are aware of who belongs there and who doesn’t and what activity is suspicious. The most important reason Neighborhood Watch works is that citizens began working with, instead of relying on, law enforcement to combat crime in their community.
Getting involved in an organization like these will allow me to contribute some of my time an effort to this great cause. In addition it will bring me a step further to minimizing violence in the world.
Another way of dealing with this problem is to get involved with the children. By educating the youth about the terrible consequences of wrong doing, we’ll be attacking the problem from the roots. I can help develop an after school program where the children as well as their parents can come together and watch educational movies and play trivia games that will enhance their knowledge about the all the positive outcomes of doing the right thing and obeying the law. This program will always arrange weekly meeting with the community in which adults who are seeking job and educational opportunities can obtain information about job availability and schooling.
This program can be funded by local business and community funds. I can contact the local radio station as well News and television shows caster that can help me gain sponsor to this program. The media can also help educate the community about the dangerous out come of violence and the need to help stop this problem.
It is definitely time for everyone including myself, to get involved in saving our country from violence. There are endless number of way to do this, many people who have the time and money to do so are not doing it. I believe that if the children in this world were loved and given some attention, they wouldn’t grow up to be evil criminals and killers that terrorize people everyday. This is why it is essential to begin correcting this problem from the base. The only way to put a stop to this problem is if every one start dedicationing a little of their time to a child. By positively motivating a kid, he or she will believe that he/she can do or be anything. They will have that drive to become great influential people in the future. Because not very criminal was born to be what they are. There were probably emotional problems that lead them to do what they do. If they had the knowledge of how to correctly deal with their problems, more than likely they would not have become cold hearted criminals.
It is never too late to reach those people who are causing the violence in our community. Through the program that I will help develop, those adults who are seeking to change their lives can do so, by attending the community meetings. This program can give them a fresh start to a better future by finishing their education or by getting a new job. The program will also have volunteer psychologist that can help them and other adults deal with stress that would normally cause them do engage in criminal acts. I strongly believe that this program will minimize violence in the world. Others around the world might be motivated to start others similar programs to help deal with the violence in their country.
The first thing that I will begin to do to start this mission is to do some research about local oranizations in my community that deals with anti -violence issues. This will allow me to gain knowledge about how they have hepled the comunity and also give me pointers on how I can get my organization started. By knowing where these organization lack in helping others, I can make my program better by providing those needs.
I will name this program ” New Light.” I chose this name because the program will offer a fresh begining to those people who will be attending it. It will also provide a the children a different outlook on life. The main purpose of this program is to reduce violence by educating the children; this will allow everyone to see a better future or a “New Light” of hope

You are right about violence being a hard problem to crack. People use their free will in many different ways and it is hard to get them to change. I do agree with about going after the younger individuals before they affected by their older peers. Also, I think that the “Keys” program is good because sometimes parents aren’t able to keep their kids safe. Neighborhood Watch is an okay program as long as enough people participate.

  2. Daisy O Says:

    Hi Lucy,

You have chosen a great topic to address. Violence is something that affects us all. You are also very right in targeting children as the recipients of knowledge about violence. We can convert some criminals, but we can prevent them, if we start early. The only suggestion I have is to include some of what you actually intend to do. How are you going to create your after school program? Are you already in Neighborhood Watch or do you need to join? Once you address those issues, you’ll be off to a great start.

Good Luck! See you when we meet for Bible Mysteries.

  3. Kaamilya Says:

    Hi Lucy,

I think your idea of a program to minimize violence is a good idea. It is important to get the adults and parents in the neighborhoods involved to help reduce the crime. I think that’s the best way for the police to keep control of neighborhood violence. I also do believe that spending more time with children during their childhood will help them realize that hanging out in the streets, selling drugs and becoming apart of gangs are not cool. I would suggest that start your program right here in New Orleans because we have a high rate of youth going to jail or either dying at a young age. Overall, I think it’s a pretty good idea to try an improve. Good Luck!

  4. B.Winn Says:

Your attempt to cut down on violence is a good idea, but is also going to be a very hard one. Violence comes in a shapes and forms and a variety of people are affected. The idea of educating young children about violence is the way to start, because if you wait until they’re grown; it going to be hard to make them listen. You project focusing on aa huge problem in the world, and any progress towards solving it is of great importance.

  5. Chavell Scott Says:

Hi, Lucy. You have a great topic. Okay, what do you want to read first the good criticism or the bad? Well, I’ll be a good group member and give you the good, then the bad. :-) I like the idea you have about using a night watch crew. In Detroit, around Halloween, there are alot of arsonist. And we have to have a night before Halloween called Angels Night, where volunteers patrol the area to make sure that there are not any fires going on. This is very similar to your plan of using the G.A. and skilled anit-violence members to patrol the area. Trust me that will definately work. But, what would happen if those skilled members were caught in a gun fire, would you still implement the same volunteer service again?

  6. Chavell Scott Says:

Lucy, I ment to say Neighborhood Watch, not G.A., I had Daisy on my mind.

  7. Aneela Jatala Says:

You have a very nice topic. Violence is one of the problems that we need to solve so that the world can become a nice place to live in. I like the idea about programs like Keys to Safer Schools program and contacting the local radio stations to sponsor your projects. Also, the after school program sounds really interesting. I know that children dont listen to parents as much as they listen to their peers and teachers. Im sure if you educate them about the right things to do in the right way, it would sure impact them somehow. Because educating this generation is important so that the next generation is safe from violence.

  8. Latonya Smith Says:

I like your idea about correcting violence. It’s something that has plaqued our community, among others, for decades. Starting with the children is a really good idea because they are our future and the way that we educate them, will determine our future.

  9. Chloe Says:

Thanks Lucy! I think the level that I’m speaking of is too large to compare with our regular day to day spendings. We are talking about multiple large companies that spend millions of dollars of NOTHING! This is horrible. It is one of the huge examples of America having its priorities messed up. Priority should be to have as many people as possible in some type of shelter whether it be house, apartment or community facility like the one I’d like to build. then entertainment should come second. (only when comparing these two things do I think entertainment should come second) It is important that we remember how many people are homeless compared to the amount of people that would be homeless if america budgeted its money wiser. Thanks again!

Lucy, you have touched upon a sensitive topic. Bringing up Neighborhood Watch was excellent. In Chicago, my grandmother is part of Neighborhood Watch. That program has changed a lot of youth and adults lives. Also having after schools programs are good, because I know from experience. I do have one questionĶ Where will these after school programs be located, such as a school, park or church? The idea is great; I just need more detail of the plan and not the problem. Other than more explanting of what the program will do with the children and parents (such as activities) and the location will take place, everything is awesome. Good job!

Good job. You have this marked as week two, and it should be week three as a category. Please change that.

There are a lot of things that stem from violence. I agree that if we minimize violence period then our world will be a better place to live in.

Lucy Valencia, I agree! But lucky for you, I believe that I have the answer to your problem. I know the sure way to stop violence FOREVER. The answer is money and love. Why does most types of violence occur? Because of money. People steal, rob etc because they don’t have money. People murder etc because of money. Rapists, fratricides, matricides, suicides occur because that person doesnt’ feel any love. For example (I don’t know if this went natinally, or if it was just in st. louis) there was a high school guy who killed a whole bunch of people in his school including himself because his girlfriend broke up with him. Obviously she wasa the only person he felt close to in the whole world. He didn’t kill her, because he loved her too much (says his letter) So, get people money and love, and there will be no violence in the world. Now, that is the impractical way to think about it. Practically, you are right. the only thing we can do is inform people. We have to inform people on how to COPE with not having money or as much money as they think they should have. Or how to COPE with not growing up in a wholesome, loving family. Well, that was just my 15cents on your project. Hope it helped. Good luck!
