I am glad that I’ve decided to work on my project with a partner! Yes, we have been doing well so far and if we keep up with it we will indeed become successful at expanding. I do agree that we should start passing out more packets. Although many people know and heard about STDs many still don’t know the exact dangers of it. Let’s keep up the great work partner!! :)

The True Gleaner

Thank you so much for your encouragement and words of support! I am extremely glad that you have taken a liking to our project! Not many people feel that this is an important topic, but it is good to know that not only myself and my partner but others of the same age group feel the need to spread the word as well. We are currently getting good responses to our topics but as we get to the older age group it gets a little more difficult. We are also waiting on responses from our chosen representatives. We haven’t heard anything yet but, with a bit of luck, they’ll respond soon! Hopefully, everything will turn out well!!

Thank you so much for your words of support! It is greatly appreciated! I am glad to know that my project is supported by my peers. We felt that when we include students into the discussion rather than just lecturing them, many would be more interested and willing to listen. We have tested that hypothesis and it is indeed true! :) It looked like they were so interested and eager to learn! Everyone had a positive attitude, and was definitely willing to listen. But, as we got to the older students it was a challenge. It turned out well but we still have many more students to go. We want to spread the word on this important issue as much as possible. I also hope that our end result is good as well! Thanks again!

Thank you for your support! Yes, having a partner does help tremendously! We can tackle and control more students at one time and still have fun while doing it! A partner also helps with time availability. When I am not able to attend some classes, he is there to pick it up. This way, the word can get out to even more students. Yes, activities are a great way to get students interested. Not only will they be having fun performing the skits, they’ll also remember the important information from performing as well! To help them remember the information, we also provided information packets for them to read. Hopefully, they’ll keep the packet and share them with friends as well! We will try to spread as far as we can to different schools and age group. It’ll be a great task but I know that we will be able to succeed. Once again, I’d like to thank you for your words of encouragement!

Thank you for your support and words of encouragement! It is good to know that my classmates think that my project is a great idea and it will certainly help many throughout their lives. It’s is a great idea to become more active during AIDs week. Thanks for the suggestion. We are printing more and more packets each day to pass out to students in high school as well as some of our peers. Many think that this issue isn’t important and that it won’t happen to them. But, little do they know it can as well happen to all of us. No matter how well you are doing in school or at work, one mistake can mess up the rest of your life. Well, hopefully our project will turn out well. As you may know, working with much older kids will be a challenge. Thanks again for your support!

Thank you so much for your feedback!! It is great to know that you think our project is going well. STDs and Teen Preganancy are indeed a big issue. Especially here in Louisiana. Many take these matters commonly but little do they know, it can affect the rest of their lives. So, yes we are trying to spread as far as we can to help students be aware of the dangers of these diseases. Hopefully, the students will retain the information and be able to benefit from them. Once again, thank you for your support!!

Thank you so much for your feedback. It is great to know that my fellow peer agrees that the work on my project thus is going well. I was very excited to know that I had helped so many students become aware of the dangers and STDs. Yes, bringing in a spokesperson did indeed help and made the students realize that these situations are indeed real and it could happen to just about anyone. Well thanks again for the feed back. I am glad that it helped motivate you with your project!!

Tobit and the lesson to be learned

Tobit is what you can call a righteous Jew who is known for giving Jews proper burial. He is ordered by the King Sennacherib not to do so, but ignores his orders. His property is then seized by the king and is exiled. After the death of the king he is then able to return to Nineveh. He goes back to his duties and buries another Jew who has been murdered. That night he sleeps with his eyes opened. A bird poops in his eye and he becomes blind. He is then dependent on his wife but gets very annoyed and aggravated. He then wishes to die.

Tobit remembers that someone owes him money and tells Tobias, his son, to retrieve it. After retrieving his money, he could then he die in peace. So, Tobias goes on his journey to collect his father’s goods. On his journey he meets Raphael. Raphael is an angel but disguises himself as one of Tobit’s followers. Raphael accompanies Tobias on his journey while protecting and guiding him as well.

During his journey, Tobias and Raphael is attacked by a fish. They are able to catch the fish and kill it saving its heart, gull bladder, and liver for later use. On the way he also meets a girl named Sarah. Sarah has also been through many misfortunes. She has been married seven times and all seven times her husband to be is killed by the demon of lust. Tobias and Sarah end up falling in love and want to get married but are scared to do so. Raphael tells them to burn the fish’s heard and liver to drive away the demon. As they did so, the demon ran far far away. Raphael chases the demon and kills it. When Sarah’s father sees that his son-in-law has not died after the marriage he arranges for a longer feast. Tobias orders Raphael go to town and retrieve his father’s money for him.

Tobias returns home with his father’s goods. Raphael tells Tobias to rub the fish’s gull bladder on his father’s eyes and he will be cured. As he did so, his father was able to see again. Raphael reveals his true identity and all is well.

The story of Tobit is such a great story. The moral to the story probably is, no matter how bad things get for you, whether its poop in your eyes or seven dead husbands, things will eventually get better in the end. Praying will do you much good! Waiting patiently and believing in God, he will see that you are faithful and will send help down for you. Everything will turn out ok in the end. In the story of Tobit, there is also significance in sacrifices and offerings to God as well as following instructions of your elders. Once all is done accordingly, everything will be great.

Maccabees, the Heroes

The Maccabees were Jewish rebels who fought against the decree in Judea forbidding Jewish religious rights. Mettathias the Hasmoneau (Maccabees) lead a revolt against the Seleucid Empire. Mettathias had five sons who fought along side their father. Judah succeeded his father and led a Jewish army to fight for their right. Their skilled war techniques made it that much easier to defeat their enemy. They succeeded in defeating the Seleucid dynasty. After their victory, they went to Jerusalem to cleaned out the temple and reestablishing their traditional Jewish grounds. They appointed Jonathan Maccabee as high priest.

Many consider the Maccabees to be heroic because they were able to stand their grounds and stand up for their religious rights. They were able to retrieve the temple and restore what was originally theirs.
