This course was actually pretty good and informative. It really made me think about a lot of things. It challenged my faith, church doctrine, and ability to think critically about spiritual things. I learned a lot about biblical principles and the background of Christianity and Judaism. I learned a lot of interesting biblical facts and the bible for dummies was a very good resource tool. I don’t feel like I am an expert in the discipline of biblical studies but I have learned a pretty good foundation. In fact, I have been able to effectively research and explain different biblical principles to family and friends as a result of taking this courser such as those found in the stories of Job, Esther, and about prophets. I think that I will be able to improve the world. I think in my project I have touched and improved the lives of 21 young females. This seems small in comparison to the world but it’s a good start. I have started looking at life outside of my own selfish desires and goals, and I started really soul searching to find my purpose in helping others. This class has lead to my growth on more than one plane. Not only have I grown in biblical knowledge but I have grown spiritually, intellectually, and socially. Writing is not one of my strong points. I still have a ways to go, but I have gotten considerably better about writing my feelings, thoughts, and knowledge on different topics that I normally wouldn’t write about. Also I liked how in the class we would talk about small current events affecting the city of New Orleans and our nation that I had no clue about. I realized how politically and socially ignorant I was and as a result have started reading news at least once a week. That’s a pretty good start for me. Overall as a theology class, I give this lecture an A+. It has really improved my outlook and drive for life and education outside of the major sciences and Xavier.
