My project like many others is moving really slow. I have created my petition and I’m currently in the process of getting it signed. So far I have a few signatures but I intend to have a whole lot more when I begin drafting my letter to my local senator. I have been getting the petition signed by family, friends and students and I have been receiving good feedback. There are a lot of people that agree that teachers, firefighters and police officers are underpaid and truly deserve to be compensated better for the job that they do. Everyone that I have communicated with can also think of at least one teacher that they liked when they were in school and you wouldn’t believe how many people have had positive encounters with firefighters and law enforcement officers. I am also studying the process of how to get the motion for a new law created and placed on the national ballot for voters to approve.
All in all I’m really happy with the progress that my project is moving even though it is moving a little slower than I intended. I was always taught that patience was an essence of virtue. And with patience you can achieve your goals and also if you take your time and do it right, you will not have to do it twice. So I’m hoping for the best out of my project because I plan to see it through. Before my project is done I would like to volunteer at a local police station or a fire department to show how much I fully support their efforts to provide safety and security to our community. I am willing to do whatever I can to help.
In association with my project I’ve also joined some groups on facebook (i.e. Better Pay for Teachers…Better Retention Rates, Who supports local volunteer fireman?) and various groups on myspace that have to do with project. I’m hoping that within the duration of my project, I get positive feedback from them.
I’m guessing that this class pertains to what I want to do for a professional living a lot by the way you worded it in the question. I am going to go out on a limb and say that this class has everything to do with my succeeding in my chosen career because without the religious basic understanding of where we came from we can’t get to where we are going.
Right now, my professional aspiration is to be a chemical engineer. So far, I’m still sticking with that goal. But a lot of people have been telling that freshman usually change their minds as they continue on with school. The question I’m supposed to answer is; how does this class pertain to my professional goals? With this class being an introduction into biblical studies, I’m going to say that this class has everything to do with my goals. I‘ve never really been a big fan of reading the bible and I really don’t know that much about it. I actually am Catholic and I’ve only completed my studies to make the first sacrament (first Communion), which is kind of sad because at my age I should have also at least made my Conformation by now. But anyways, to me the bible kind of explains life and the way I should as a human being live it. Although I’m not really all that into doing what the bible says type stuff, i.e. eating fish on Fridays during lent and stuff like that, I can say that I actually try to follow the Ten Commandments. As living by and heeding to all Ten Commandments can only make you a better person. I think that me wanting to be an engineer pertains to this class because I intend to use the knowledge I gain to help mankind develop a safer and healthier environment to grow old gracefully in while surviving by the laws of our society. I also believe that if everyone believed in a positive higher power that controlled your destiny by your actions and contributions to society the world would be a better place.
Feminist Criticism is a useful tool because it helps us to understand women roles in the bible. The bible was actually written by man and just about everything in the past has belittled women to the point where they just accepted their place in life. Feminist criticism also allows women to play a role that they don’t usually take part in. Feminist criticism gives women the opportunity to analysis things critically and uses their minds.
Wow, how did I do on my midterm? Surprisingly, I did way better than I thought. I know absolutely nothing about the bible or the people in it. But as I was taking the test, I discovered that I knew a little more than I thought. My biggest problem was the bible mystery, I wasn’t really sure about any of the bible mysteries but I definitely knew nothing about “Lord of the Flies” one. I was so upset when I saw that was the bible mystery chosen for the exam. All I knew was something about somebody’s name had to be changed because it was an insulting to Yahweh or something. I don’t know. I also had no idea about the matching the quotes with the “who said what to who in what book” questions. I remember reading over those stories but I honestly couldn’t tell you who said what. For some reason, I was expecting it to be easy fill in the blanks, like who said, “Adam don’t eat off tree,” basic stuff. I guess I was wrong. But I did really well on everything else. I knew about most of the Characters in the bible and the definitions of the certain words. I also knew about those essays on blackboard, which is where I’m guessing most of my points came from. If you are student of Dr. Homan, I advise you to read the blackboard required readings. They are your keys to success.
