Dear Senator Hillary Clinton,
My name is Brittney Curtis, and I am a student at Xavier University of Louisiana. I have decided to take on a large role in tackling a problem that affects many young Americans today. The problems I decided to focus on are that of teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. The numbers of both are growing on a daily basis and I feel that I should try and do something about it now, before it is too late. Although these two problems have already spiraled out of control, a solution can be put into action that will cause the numbers to change for the better.
My plan of action is to pass out things that will aid in the prevention of the rise in statistics of the two problems mentioned earlier. The protective wear that will be given is known to us as condoms. In doing this two problems will be solved with one simple solution. Not only do I plan to pass these things out as often as possible, I will also do my best to inform people of the statistics of teen pregnancy along with the rising number of sexually transmitted diseases. Condoms will also aid in the protection against the deadly virus of HIV, which can sometimes be a sexually transmitted disease. The only thing is that there is no cure for this, and it matures into the deadly virus of AIDS. Although sex is not the only way to obtain the virus, it is the number one way to contract it. It is amazing how one small thing can fix so many problems. Not only do I plan to literally pass out condoms, I also want to make them available when I am no longer in the area. I don’t want the access to the condoms to end just because I leave the vicinity. There will be certain places where a basket of some sort will be set up with condoms inside so that people will feel free to take one or maybe two and hopefully use it.
I’m not sure whether or not I will have these baskets around the school, due to the fact the Xavier is a private university, and in a sense it would seem as if I’m advocating pre-marital sex, which I am not doing. But I am being practical about the situation at hand. I know that not everyone chooses to follow the “road less traveled”, so my project is dedicated to them. I do plan to place this special mechanism of protection at places I know they are needed the most. One example is at various social functions. I know that every one is thinking “Why there?” Well I am young and I like to do my fair share of partying, so I know how people think, young people especially. Usually at the social functions people have a few drinks (sometimes alcoholic beverages), which tends to makes them more vulnerable and more likely to leave with someone once the party and fun is all over. I am almost 100% sure that if I was to place a basket full of condoms at the door of any given social event by the time the function was completely empty all of the condoms would be gone. This is just an example of one of the various places I am going to have condoms free for the public. This way anyone who is interested in keeping their lives child-free and disease-free will have access to an essential supply. Although there is no guarantee that if a person uses a condom they will not get pregnant or catch any type of disease, the chances of these things happening are extremely slim.
If you can incorporate these problems into other problems that you are focusing on, it would be a great help. Thank you

I believe that if these two people got involved and tried to offer some assistance to these problems, the numbers might decline even more dramatically.
