My purpose for my project is to improve the health care system in this country. I have seen and heard so many people who had suffered from improper health care service or no health care service due to their situations, no money, no insurance, and etc. I believe they have been treated unfairly. I would like to help those people. Therefore, I chose to improve health care in this country. I know that it is impossible for me to do it by myself, but I would like to try my best into encouraging other people to land a hand into improving health care. I would like to start with the younger kids first and eventually work my way up to their parents and other adults. In the last blog, I blogged about the department that I would like to volunteer at in the Children’s Hospital, unfortunately for me, there are no more space available. Therefore, I have to find another department to work at. I have signed up to volunteer in the recovery floor. I volunteer every Saturday from 4:30 p.m to 7 p.m. My job is to go from room to room and ask parents if they would like to take a break. If they would like to take a break, than my job is to replace them as guardian for the moment. I would look after their kids while they go on their break. I act as a relief for the parents. I plan to talk to the kids during this time period that I spend with them. I can talk about their health and how the simple methods that they can take to improve their health. Also, I will explain to them what could possibly happen if they do not take care of their body. They would not want to be on of those unfortunate people out there. My volunteer will not actually start until next week. Hence, all I have done thus far was waiting, waiting, waiting, and planning. First, I had to wait for the volunteer department to send me an application for volunteering. Next, I had to wait for them to give me an interview, which was not until November. Next, I had to wait for the department I would like to volunteer in to be opened, which it was never opened to my hours. So I had to look for another department to volunteer at. Even after that, I had to wait for their response. Lastly, I found the department that I would like to volunteer at, but I still have to wait until I can actually start. While I waited for my volunteer service actually starts, I have been collecting brochures about kids and brochures about how to take of one’s body. So, my project has all been about waiting patiently and collecting. Hence, my project has not been going the way I planned it to.
Why was Jesus crucified? Jesus was not crucified for the typical reason that most people would be crucified for, such as murder, treason, or theft. He was crucified for what He believed in and preached in. He preached for everybody to love each other, for people to not look down upon one another, for people to forgive each other, and so on. He wanted for this world to be a better place, so that they will have a place in the kingdom of God. However, His preaching was not welcomed by the people in His society. As listed in the previous blog, His preaching was counter cultural. According to the Roman politicians, Jesus was crucified for proclaiming Himself as the King of the Jews. During that time, there could only be one king, which was King Herod. There could be no other king beside him. Nonetheless, when Jesus was presented in front of Roman Procurator Pontius Pilate, Pilate did not feel that Jesus was guilty of the charge. He did not feel that Jesus had committed any crime against the Romans. During the Passover, Jesus had a chance to be released. The Romans had a custom to release a prisoner, Pilate offered to the people to pick between the insurrectionist Barabbas or Jesus of Nazareth. The crowd picked to free Barabbas instead of Jesus. Pilate turned Jesus over to the crowd and washed his hands. This showed that Pilate had nothing to do with Jesus’ death.
However, according to the Pharisees, high priests, Jesus was charged with undermining the Jewish law and creating a rebellion in society through His preaching. Through out His preaching years, Jesus did miracles and healed many people. When the Pharisees heard of his miraculous actions, they were angry. They were angry because there is someone out there that was better than them. That Person was praised by the people, while they were not. People called Him the Messiah that saved the poor and the innocents. During that time, Jesus proclaimed Himself as the Messiah or the Son of the Blessed One, God. The Pharisees took this as a blasphemy of their God and charged Jesus with capital punishment. They beat and whipped Him until He had no strength left. They mocked Him. They than nailed Him into a cross and let Him died upon his cross in the hill of Golgotha, Skull.
There are many different reasons people believed why Jesus was crucified. Beside the two reasons above, some people believed that Jesus was crucified due to the will of the Father. According to the Book of Mormon, Mosiah 15:7, it states that the Father’s will was for an Atonement to be made for the sins of people in the world. Jesus’ death was that Atonement. Therefore, no one was responsible for Jesus’ death. His death was planned in advance. The Pharisees, Pontius Pilate, and the Jews all played a part in this big plan. People may not know it, but it is the purpose for Jesus’ death. Therefore, which why was Jesus crucified? It is up to what each person’s belief. Each person has different belief on this issue. So, there is no straight answer for this question. It depends on their faith.
