My project is doing fine from what I can see. I haven’t run into a big problem just yet. The hardest thing I have to say that I have to do is to find some a way to get my community involved. I thought that would be the easiest thing to do because people might have an inclination to help the unfortunate, but it seems like they don’t want to. I placed flyers in my community to get the word out and a lot told a good amount of people of my project, so they could go around and tell their friends. The priests at my church are all in for it, but they could only do so much for me. It really is sad to think that people don’t want to help out the poor. Beside this one big problem, everything else is doing okay. I got with a group of people from my community and talked about what else we could do besides getting a donation of things. The one thing we could think of was to try to get a donation of money to cook a great big meal for the homeless people and anybody else who would like to join for Thanksgiving. I thought it was a good idea because including the meal; we could also give them little gifts from the donations. We went downtown one day and did a little survey. We tried to go to the poor areas to look for the homeless people and ask them what they needed the most. The people told us the basic things we knew they need. Some of these things are blankets, shoes, some clothes, but mostly food. When I heard most of them said they needed food, it made sense to me. The plan to cook a meal for the homeless would be a perfect thing to do. I called up some of my community leaders to see who would have time to help me do this project. We couldn’t do anything yet because it wasn’t time for Thanksgiving. The only thing we could do was thinking of plans to raise some money. This was easy because the community where I live at holds a fair every year for the Asian New Year. A lot of kids usually go to it because there are lots of games to play for prizes. We thought we could do the same thing since there are lots of kids here who love games and competition. Doing all this work actually makes me feel good about myself. I never really tried to start a big project with a group of people before. It makes me happier to see that people my age and a variety of other ages feel the same way. This makes it a whole lot easier to accomplish the goal because you can rely on these people. I guess the next step is to find help from other communities. People might not give us money because they might not trust us with their money. I know I wouldn’t trust a complete stranger if they asked me for money to help out some cause that they themselves might not even see. Instead, I can ask for their time to help me with the meal for Thanksgiving. If I do it this way, the volunteers can get some hands on action and they can donate some food or money and join us on the scheduled day. For now, this is my new game plan. I’ll keep you posted on how it turns out.

The Deuteronomistic Historians thought that a good kind had to do things for God. The first thing is that they believed a good king should worship God and put God above everything else in the world. The king was supposed to try to lead all of his people towards the life of a Christian. The more people he convinced to converting to Christianity, the better a king he was. The king also had to find way to protect the citizens of his city. The historians wanted the king to focus on the families with no adult male figure. They believed that the women cannot protect the family the way a man can. While protecting the citizens, the king has to also give out punishment where it is due. One of the other things the historians thought you should be able to do as king is to be able to lead an army in war. The king can’t get much help with leading the war. The historians thought he should be able to make the decisions in the war.

I guess technically the Deuteronomistic Historians would say that he was a leader in some kind of way. George W. Bush is a Christian, so he got that requirement. He is also the president of the United States, so that means he’s the commander of the country. Being a commander is a big requirement. There’s no point in being a king if you have no kind of authority. Some people would agree that George W. Bush isn’t much of a leader at all. Even though this may be true, he is the leader none the less. The one thing I didn’t think the historians would approve of is the fact that the president gets pushed or told to do what the cabinet thinks is the right thing to do. The king should not be told what to do according to the historians. The king should know what to do in time of crisis. George W. Bush would be lost without all the help he gets to make everyday decisions.

I personally think that the worst thing David did was sleep with Uriah’s wife, Bathsheeba. The messed up part was that he slept with her when her husband went off to fight in the war. Later on, David got her pregnant also. David tried to get Uriah to sleep with his wife to let the man think that the baby was his. The one thing David didn’t think Uriah would do is refuse, but that’s exactly what he did. Uriah refused to sleep with his own wife. After refusing, David commanded Uriah’s army to leave him behind to die in the war. I guess that’s one way to solve your problems when you’re king.

The Jerusalem temple was built by Solomon and destroyed by the Babylonians. The temple was for people to come and worship God. Just like other temples, it also has an area to offer sacrifices to God. The first temple was destroyed in 586 BC and the second temple was built around the sixth century BC. It took the people about 30 years to finish the temple. After all the work, the temple was also destroyed by the Romans in 70 CE.
