As of right now my project is for the most part going according to plan. However I am just realizing that the last blog for the project is due the weekend before exams. My intention was to distribute my information cards throughout the course of about three to four days. Now I think what I will do is just mix the information through one day. Meaning instead of having all the cards say the facts, some will read differently. I really like how this class requires you to think about what you are learning. I plan on going into the medical profession after school. In this particular profession there can be many solutions and causes to just about everything, nothing can be taken at face value. In my profession you have to ask questions over and over again, one answer just leads to another question. Also, there are times when a patient can’t or won’t tell their doctor everything due to either ignorance or embarrassment. So even once you have found an answer to a question, then you must ask another one just to clarify the answer you received.
Feminist Criticism is useful when reading the bible because it can be very helpful in verifying the actuality of the story. During the times that the stories of the bible were written men feared women. The women were portrayed in the stories as being evil and shouldn’t be trusted. Women were killers and spies throughout these stories. Feminist Criticism shines light on the writer’s train of thought during the time when biblical stories were written. This gives evidence to the fact that not everything written was entirely true, or even remotely true. The authors during these times had specific agendas in mind when they were writing. The purpose of these stories weren’t just to tell what happened, but to persuade people. It was obvious that women were not favorable in society and that is how these writers wanted it to remain.
I think I did very well on my midterm. I’ve never been particularly well with just memorizing names and information pertaining to them. So I actually surprised myself in how well I remembered all the information. We went through a lot of people just in the first few books of the Old Testament along. To be honest, stories of the bible have never really interested me very much anyways. Theology in high school was always pretty much the same things anyways. Just a few select stories from the bible such as, Christmas, Easter, the Crucifixion, the Last Supper, etc. And then of course, being at a catholic high school, we had to learn that sex was evil and all that, and that we should avoid it at all costs. Anyways, I think since this class was so different from any other theology class that I’ve had it made what I was learning that much more interesting. I like it!
