He Died For Our Sins

The way I see it the world is one body and we all function to make it what it is. When you work on improving yourself you don’t tackle everything you see as a flaw all at one time. But you work on certain aspects of your diet or personality, like your patience, one at a time. I see my project as tackling an issue that the body of the world needs to address, which is our future. Like I have stated in previous blogs, my project wasn’t create with the intent to end this semester, but it will manifest and influence children from years to come. If we can better out youth, we improve the world, because they are our future. If more student take pride in academic, that leaves less time and less students to involve themselves in debilitating activities, like drugs, murder, homelessness. This may seem extreme, but it really isn’t. Think back to days when you were in school. That quiet kid in the corner that had no friends and didn’t do well in school, was he/she triumphant in the end? Most likely not. Childhood experiences deeply affect experiences that happen in adulthood. If you don’t possess decent academic and social skills the way you interact with the world is different from others who excel in those areas.

When I shifted my project I set out to plant a seed and watch it grow. Think about the seeds of plants. They grow continuously and we have even found alternative ways to use plants medicinally and in other ways. Plants feed us, and in some cultures they clothe us. This is the way I would like my seeds to grow. I’m not asking for my mentee to participate in mentoring/tutoring youth when she gets older, but I hope and pray that she helps the youth in some derivative form of what I have done. I don’t care if she adopts a child, smiles at a child, or becomes a teacher every bit helps and every form is used in a different way to produce the same outcome, which is to restore a child’s confidence. I want to see my harvest grow and manifest and possibly turn into a larger project. In some way I want to touch a young persons heart and motivate them to do something positive with there life. There are alternatives to precedence’s and stereotypes. Everyone can be someone. Unfortunately our world isn’t set up for everyone to excel, but the point is to strive for it. We need to strive to get closer to God. If we seek him, and seek him with our whole hearts we will in fact find oneness within the world. We all have one thing in common regardless of whether we recognize this: we all answer to one God in the end.

By being a mentor I have shown my mentee that there are people in her life that care about her even when her parents don’t have the energy to express their love. I’m not with her all day everyday so the fresh energy that I bring presents an outlet for her to express uncertainties with her social life, home life and academic life. I pray that one day my children will connect someone that can support them when I may have trouble doing so, because I’m too old to relate or maybe even too stubborn in my ways. Not every child has that extra shoulder to cry on or that extra hand to give them a push when the other hands are full or busy doing other things.

My mentee has my phone number and I have hers. She knows that she can always call me to talk, even if it’s about nothing! I don’t care. I just want her to be completely comfortable with me. In life you sometimes feel alone and I want her to know that I’ll support her in a positive manner in all that she does.

I have improved the world through my project, because I have realized my responsibility to enhance its growth. I realize that I have to do my part, just like we all do. If everyone were to personally take on a project or invest in the world by helping someone else this would be a better place to live in. In sincerely believe that “united we stand and divided we fall.” I don’t understand why the majority of the world fights this. To me it is a fact that cannot be ignored. God tells us to, “love thy neighbor as thine self.” This is the key to improving the world. If we treated others the way we wanted to be treated, the term selfishness would not exist. We would not even know how to convey selfishness through our actions. Selfishness would be some mysterious feeling that know one would ever acquire.

Jesus was crucified, because he was charged by the Chief of priests with undermining Jewish law and stirring up a rebellion, according to accounts from our Bible for Dummies textbook. It was already prophesized that the Son of God would die for our sins and rise in 3 days. The Lord made that determination and it was so. Jesus had to die on the cross to convey to the world what true love was. Will the avengement do the same? Probably not. Jesus had everything, yet he chose to give us a chance at salvation, because he truly loves us. He was persecuted physically, mentally, and emotionally, but yet he still stayed true to his purpose. He showed us that yes man can walk the path of righteousness, but you must humble yourself first. On the day of the last supper Jesus washed the feet of the disciples. When they refused to let him do it he replied, “that the greatest among you will be the least, and the one who rules the one who serves” (Luke 22:26). You have to humble yourself. Humbleness equals greatness. Materialistic things only equal temporary power. The real power lies in our hearts, but that’s only if we chose to let the Father in.
