Week Nine Blog

Week nine topic was to focus on the implentation of our project. I had been working on my powerpoint presentation and trying to find a way to present this project because my visual resources are limited such as a screen and a projector. I had talked with my youth minister about my presentation. We were in the process of trying to set up a date that would be good to do this project. A date was set but he was going to check with the other ministers from the group to see if that would be a good date to do the presentation. I never got any conformation on the date. I’ve have been trying to figure out another way to implement this project. I know that I really need to do this project. As I’ve been expriementing with Windows Movie Maker, I’ve decided to change or convert my powerpoint presentation to a video and post it on youtube. I’m going to display it on the other site that I belong to. I wish I could have gotten the chance to present this to the youth departments. I am going to try at a later date after this class is over to present this project. I had technical difficulties with my video. I have finally gotten the video to work properly. I have uploaded the video on youtube. I have added a song to my video so it would be more interesting. My video can be viewed at this web address: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ijmvisSZbo .

A good king according to the Deuteronomistic Historian, is one who believes his divined rights were giving to him through God, he was placed as king because of God, and he would do anything to uphold God. Deuteronomistic Historian would not approve of George W. Bush. I don’t think the historian would approve of him because his characteristics and controling power do not meet the qualifications of a good king. Although George W. Bush is not a king, he is still a ruler over this country. Through all the events that has taken place during his terms in office, it doesn’t appear that he is doing anything in his will to uphold God in his decisions for this country. I don’t understand if we are one nation under God, then why doesn’t seem that way at all. I’m not questioning God or his abilities on this at all, but I’m questioning the nation on it.

The worst thing that David did was sleep with the wife of one his soldiers who is away at war and then have the soldier killed. After sleeping with her, she become pregnant. David then brought the soldier home, to try and get him to sleep with his wife so that it would appear that the child is his. After the soldier doesn’t do so because of religious belief that says a soldier should remain ritually pure when he is fighing for God. David then send him back out the battlefield. David orders for him to be placed on the front line and when the enemy appears the rest of the troops are to leave, leaving only that soldier there so he could be killed. Once David recieved word back that the soldier was dead, he married the wife of the soldier. Then their son was born. Later David then wishes death upon himself when he was told a parable,of his own life, by his prophet Nathan.

The Jerusalem Temple was built on Mount Moriah by David’s son Solomon. The temple was sixty cubits in length, twenty cubits wide, and thirty cubits tall. The temple was made up of two large rooms. The temple had two large pillars at the entrance. The temple had smaller storage places located along the outer area. On the inside, it consisted of three areas: the vestibule, the Holy Place, and the Holy of Holies. The Holy of Holies was where the Ark was placed. In the main room contained the showbread, the menorah lamps, and the incense alter. On the outside of the temple was a giant metal bowl. The bowl was 10 cubits across and 5 cubits deep. It took Solomon seven years to complete the temple. After an invasion by the Egyptian King Shoshenq I, the Judan kings repaired/ renovated the temple. Then the temple was almost destroyed in 701 BCE when the Assyrians invaded. In 586 BCE, the temple was destroyed when the Babylonians invaded Jerusalem. Many in exile began to build temples in their home after the destruction of the temple. Then after 538 BCE, the Babylonian governor in Judah Sheshbazzar, was in charge of rebuilding the temple. In 520 BCE, the construction of the temple was under the control of Zerubbabel. Due to many mixed feelings and problems with the help, the construction of the temple was faced problems. This temple was 60 cubits tall and 60 cubits wide and took five years to complete. In 168 BCE, the temple was descrated by the Seleucids. Through the centuries the temple decayed. Then in 19 BCE, Herod the Great began renovations on the temple. He expanded the platform and built underground vaults. This expansion made it the largest sanctuary in antiquity.

I’m glad your project is coming along. Don’t feel down because certain things aren’t going good with it. I hear a lot of people were having problems with their projects. Its a good idea putting a video on youtube. I’m pretty sure it will get out to a lot of people.

Don’t get discouraged. You definitely don’t realize how much planning, energy and effort has to go into doing something to help our world. I thought that my project would be done and I would have made a difference by now, but all I have been doing is planning so that my project can be effective. I agree with the youtube thing.

I hope you are able to get conformation on your presentation soon. It sounds like you put a lot of work in to it. Congratulations on the movie. The use of the Windows Movie Maker was a good idea. And since it is on the clip is on you tube it can be seen by a wider range of people and not just the people in your church. But here is hoping that you get to present it anyway.

I agree with Jessica Baham. Do not get discouraged. Look how much you’ve accomplished so far. A powerpoint presentation made into a movie on youtube is definitely taking a step up. And you have the support of your ministers behind you. It will be ok don’t stress. Its going fine.

If you want a lot of people to see the video, send it to a bunch of your friends and ask them to click on it. The more people who watch it, the higher the ratings and therefore the higher the number of people who will view it. Good luck!
