A lot of Christians believe that the world will end in their times because they see the world with so much pain and suffering all around them everyday. We witness so much hatred and injustice in the world right outside our own doors that it is easy to believe that the end is near. God’s commandments are not being followed and his laws along with Jesus’ teachings are distorted to control people. Of course there are always those who belive that homosexuality, sexual promisquity, and gambling are reasons that God will soon end the world. Grown persons along with children are starving in the world. This is a world with rich nations that could help but choose not to. Here in New Orleans is a great example. The natural disaster Katrina came to hit the city and helped to cause the Federal disaster of the levees failing. Why did it hit here? Countless people died in the flood and majority of the city lost their homes and all their contents. The government of this great country, who go around the world doing lots of shit for everybody, took forever to come to the aid of one of its most historical diverse and valuable cities. Now during the reconstruction there is little help for many who must start over. For those who can rebuild, they are conned left and right by the contractors who are supposed to be helping people. There are those who have learned brotherhood and love from the situation but still we are seeing the worst in many people.
Even more so the people who think that the world will end in their times are probably seeing similarities in their times, with the happenings in the book of the Revelation of John. In this book, the end of the world is characterized by many different signs. Some of these signs are synonymous with what is happening in the world today. Intense hunger and famine are supposed to exist. They do exist in many African countries, in many South American countries and in our own country sad to say, in our own city. There is supposed to be a reign of death in the last days. There is never peace in the Middle East (the “Holy Land”) and there are wars occurring still in other places. The genocide in Darfur was definitely a reign of death and killing. Even with the city still at half of its inhabitants, the murder rate continues to skyrocket as hatred and disregard for life prevail. Our young men kill each other everyday. There is definitely a reign of death in the world as well as in our own backyards. Sometimes I myself want to believe that the world may be ending soon just because of all the evil I see around. At the same time I see some great things and meet some wonderful people. It is then that I have hope for the world. Again there are supposed to be many natural disasters at the time of judgement. The Hurricane is close to home and easy to think of but what about the Tsunami that hit in Indonesia?
What about the earthquakes in California and in the east, or the tornadoes in the Midwest, or the flooding in the northeastern states? Waters are supposed to be contaminated. Pollution was and still is out of control on our planet. We waste much, deal in excess and still there are millions who go without. The antichrist is supposed to show up by this point and the money market will be run by a standardized currency under his control. When Europeans adopted the euro many thought that it was this sign. Many people hate America and think that George Bush is the antichrist. The sign 666 is consistent with www in Hebrew gematria, so that satisfies those who think that the internet is evil. Anyway people believe the world is about to end because they think they are experiencing the sings of the end, as revealed to John.
I feel that I deserve a low A for my blog entries because my project definitely changed the world. I feel that the grade should along with its main criteria, should be graded relative to all of the blog entries from the whole class. Just for blogging the required amount one should get a B. I feel that my project was unique, realistic and truly made a difference. I know that my donation will go on to help those who need it. I feel very proud of myself and my project even though I did not get around to the flyers and my friends were not as involved as I wanted them to be (not really for lack of trying though). You know, I’m not sure what others would think of my project. I’m sure they would agree that I had changed the world for the better, but they would probably also agree that the project could have been larger scale to make a huge change. Still, just as they may try to judge my project, they will not be able to fully do so because all of our projects are personal. My project made its own difference just as theirs made theirs, and the effort or price I paid to make my contribution was my own, just as theirs was their own. I gave part of my own life so that others might have a life. I Gave Life! I feel so Christ like:) I wrote on all the blog entries and usually wrote more than 1000 words. Once I surprised myself getting really close to 2000 words. I tried to make my blogs entertaining and to communicate effectively my ideas. My discussion of the lecture topics and readings were pretty on point. I wrote mostly from my class notes, where I genuinely understood and sought to understand the topics. I think I kept up pretty well up until the end when finals started to come into play. In the end I made a difference in the world and I wrote the blogs to inform you guys about it.
