Thanks for the comments to all who gave them to me! The project is still going according to plan and look out for me and my flyers! The story of Tobit begins with him disobeying the laws of his city. There is was against the law to bury the dead. Tobit, however, gave proper burials to the deceased. The king found out of Tobit’s crimes and had his property taken away from him and he was exiled from Nineveh as well. Upon the time of the king’s death, Tobit returned to Nineveh and continued his ritual burials. After a burial one night, Tobit fell asleep and bird passing by spilled his droppings on his eyes blinding Tobit. Suffering from this tragedy Tobit began praying to God for his death. Sarah is also suffering in this story. She has lost seven husbands to the demon of lust. She comes and kills Sarah’s new husband each time before they can consummate the marriage. God then sends his angel of healing, Raphael to save them both. Raphael accompanies Tobit’s son, Tobias, on his trip to Media to collect money owed to his father. Raphael has disguised himself as Azariah, a friend of Tobias. During the trip Tobias is attacked by a big fish but defeat it. They ate his flesh and used the insides for medicine. Once in Media who do they meet but Sarah and her family! Sarah and Tobias fall in love and get married. Raphael instructs Tobias to take the liver and heart of the fish and burn it. This was meant to drive the demon of lust away. In light of this event the ceremony between Sarah and Tobias had to be extra long; so that Sarah’s father could recover the grave he had begun to dig for Tobias. The remainder of the fish is used to cure his father’s blindness. The main lesson of this story is that great things happen when you least expect them to, never give up hope!
Source criticism is used to find the author of the piece that is written. By telling who wrote the piece gives you a better understanding of how much truth it may carry. A Christian’s writing is going to try its hardest to persuade to follow in his or her beliefs. Textual criticism looks at the actual writing to determine its truth. For example, the less complicated writing would be the translated version of the original in which case it could be altered. The Maccabees are considered to be heroic because they rebelled under Mattathias.
