Week 13

What is going to happen in the future I have no idea. As of now all I know is that I have informed the public. If all I have reached is one person then that is fine with me. Sometimes all it takes is one person! Everyone has heard about the problems and hazards that come from eating disorders. That’s just one of those things that you always hear about but never pay any attention to. However this is a very serious situation. I myself am just becoming seriously familiar with it. I don’t now nor have I ever had any kind of eating disorder. I’ve never vomited in order to lose weight; that just isn’t me. However I am guilty of not eating the way I should and not taking care of myself. A lot of people are guilty of this same crime. At the beginning of my project I decided to focus on eating disorders alone: obesity, anorexia, bulimia, etc. Then I thought, just because you don’t have one of those disorders doesn’t mean you are doing what you should. That’s when I decided to change up some of my flyers to give advice on alternative ways to lose weight. This pass summer I was struggling a lot with being tired and feeling really sick. I’ve never been the type to take medicine or go to the doctor but after being sick for two months and barely able to move around I thought it was a good of time as any to break that habit. I found out that of all the things that I do, work, school, etc. I was taking way to much energy from my body that I wasn’t getting back. Not just the medical students, but all students at Xavier know how much stress school can inflict on you. But what we don’t know his how much it takes from us. I have always done school and work together it was like a routine. I would wake up at 6:45 am go to school then to work right after at 3:00 pm and then home by 8:00 pm, and this was while I was still in high school. I would only eat once a day at lunch at school, which was 10:00 am. I would’ve loved to eat after work, but by the time I got home and studied and did homework I was too tired to put the food to my mouth. I was a lot smaller then, and although I loved the weight loss I was miserable. It didn’t catch up to me until now but now I can barely do anything because my body is so worn down. Many people rely solely on energy drinks and caffeine to get them through the day. You can actually eat nuts (i.e. raw walnuts) and they can give you energy. HINT FOR THE FELLAS: peanuts give males excessive stamina! A lot of the energy drinks are strictly sugar and syrup. Natural remedies have worked for people for thousands of years before the invention of energy drinks. Unfortunately they are not as flashy but they are better for you and do the same job. I posted a lot of facts like these on some of my flours. They were under my “I BET YOU DIDN’T KNOW THIS…” category. I am willing to tell young adults that there are other alternatives. Most people approach this problem by telling you that you should accept yourself the way you are. I totally agree with this statement, no matter how thin you are if you aren’t happy just you, you’re never going to be. However, if you just would like to lose a few pounds for whatever reason I think that’s okay too. As long as it’s for you and not for what you think it will bring you. A lot of people don’t know this but your feelings can affect your body. All of our body’s are in tuned, each part affects the other. Happy people are generally healthier, and healthier people can lose weight without as much struggle. Not saying that they won’t have to do work, because they do. If you are depressed it affects the hormones in your body and can slow you system down, therefore not breaking down food the way it should and other things of that nature. Also, I know people that will only eat once a day in order to lose weight. That is the worst possible thing you could do! Yes you will immediately lose the weight but you will only lose so much. After a while your body will adapt to you not eating and will therefore hold on to the food you consume longer. This will make it harder for you to keep the weight down. You will have to work extra hard to maintain your weight. Because your body doesn’t know when it will get its next meal it will hold on to the food more strongly. As opposed to someone who eats three times a day, the body has no problems letting go because it will be replenished soon. THE BODY TRULY HAS A MIND OF ITS OWN
Jesus was crucified for being different, for not fitting in with the norms of society back then. The people feared him and had to get rid of him soon. He offended many people in his preaching. His crucifixion was a test, and a way to prove that he was a liar. When they crucified him they told him that if he was son of god like he claimed then ask him to get him down. Or sense he claimed to have performed so many miracles, why wouldn’t he miraculously just get himself down. Basically they took his life to prove a point!
