Why do most Christians in history believe that the world will end in their lifetimes? Blog about the Bible movie we watched in class. Blog your thoughts on what your overall grade for your blog entries and your project should be and why. Here are the criteria:
A = Nearly everyone in the class would agree that your project considerably improved the world. Well written blog entries documented the extensive work that went into this project. Writing continuously demonstrated a firm understanding of the readings, lectures, and discussion topics. Writing showed the student’s ability to think critically and to clearly communicate. Blogged more than the required 1000 words every week. Project and writing fully exemplified Xavier’s mission.
I do not think that I deserve anything less than an A because if you were to look at the above criteria and look at my blogs, then you can see that I have met all of the things that would require an A. The purpose of my project was to try and prevent alcohol abuse and drunk driving among the students that attend this university. I think that I did everything that I could do upon myself to make a good project. I made surveys and pledge cards so that I could get people to actually become involved in my project. I also think that people in this class would agree that my project helped change the world in some way and could be worked on for a long time period. My blogs were all well written and in the blogs, the Biblical questions that I answered were always well written and I believed that I did show a firm understanding of the readings, lectures, and discussion topics. With my blogs I have also showed that I can get my ideas out clearly and can articulate my thoughts into the blogs. I have also literally KILLED myself trying to get every one of my blogs to be over 1000 words. I also think that my project fully exemplified Xavier’s mission statement. Xavier’s mission statement says that, “Xavier University of Louisiana is Catholic and historically Black. The ultimate purpose of the University is the promotion of a more just and humane society. To this end, Xavier prepares its students to assume roles of leadership and service in society. This preparation takes place in a pluralistic teaching and learning environment that incorporates all relevant educational means, including research and community service.” I think that my project has made me assume a role in leadership since I am speaking out to students to take actions about their health, and I do believe that because of my project there will be a more humane and just society, as well as a safe one because ultimately I am teaching people that there is more to life and I am prolonging people’s life which would be one without alcohol involved. This project and this blogging has been extremely difficult to keep up but I have kept my faith that I will finish and that I will finish with an A. This blogging has not only taught me to stick with something from start to finish without giving up when things got hard, but it has also taught me that I can go out of my comfort zone if I stay focused, and if I can look into myself to come out of those insecurities. This project took a lot of effort to finish and although I am happy that it is over, I will always remember what I did in this Theology class. Hopefully, Dr. Homan can see how much effort I put into these blogs and my project that I think that I put into it. I am optimistic and I am focusing on the positive that I can recieve an A because I want nothing less. I have FAITH.
The movie that we watched in class was about the weeping prophet Jeremiah. The movie kind of reminded me of the Christian plays that I would see when my high school went on field trips to the Sight and Sound Theater in Pennsylvania. The characters in the play would always be singing and had big smiling faces all the time. When I saw the movie, I can honestly say that I thought that it was going to be different because Jeremiah is known as the WEEPING prophet., but not one time in the movie did I see Jeremiah cry or weep for that matter. The story began in Jeremiah’s childhood and it goes through his life to where he becomes a prophet for God. Jeremiah’ s father did public sacfrices for the king and he wanted his son Jeremiah to follow in the family business. Jeremiah complies with his father but is distracted by a girl that he has fallen in love with. On the day of his first sacrifice the girl calls upon Jeremiah to save her family because her father owes a debt. Jeremiah has the girl taken away to safety to wait on him, as he arrives late for his sacrifice. As he is about to kill the animal, Jeremiah has a vision that the Babylonians is coming to destroy the city because of the wrath of God. No one listens to him and because of his efforts he is exiled. But when the king realizes that what Jeremiah prophecized is true, it is too late and Jerusalem is destroyed. I thought that the whole story of Jeremiah minus the movie was sad. He was put through so much by God because the people were not listen and following the kind of lifestyle that God wanted them to have. Poor Jeremiah!
Many Christians believe that the world will end in their lifetime because when we read Revelations it always reminds us of what the end of times is going to be like. Many people in different eras were interested about the apocalypse and about the second coming of Christ. Because of the heightening level of wars, poverty, jealously, evilness, and all the diseases that have millions of people dying people believe that it will be in our lifetime. Personally I do not believe that it will because for centuries people have gone through the same thing, world wars, black plagues, and other crazy things are nothing new to this world. I think that we should leave it in God’s hands and stop worrying about waht might happen and just worry about today for now.

Good job here, though I find it hard to believe this “nearly killed” you.
