So far my project is doing very well. I talked from some of the representatives from Interfaith Communications, and they are letting me participate with them in educating people on different religions. There will be a special day dedicated to educating people on religions such as Buddhism and Hinduism, and it will answer any questions that people may have. I want to reiterate what Interfaith Communications is. It is a non profit organization that seeks exactly what I am trying to work towards with my project: Religious Tolerance. They educate, they unite, and they accept people of all religious backgrounds. Their goal is not to make one religion, but it is to make one peace united people no matter what religious beliefs they may hold. My father is a priest in the Coptic Orthodox Church and he is part of this interfaith communications, so he has helped me arrange with the founder of interfaith communications to do something to help towards religious tolerance. The meeting will actually take place at Xavier, which is a big advantage for everyone. I am hoping that this meeting will make a difference. For me personally, religion is a big part of my life. As a Christian the Bible is a very important tool that I use everyday to live a good life according to Jesus Christ. I plan to be a doctor when I graduate. In the field of medicine there is so much religious and moral controversy such as abortion, stem cell research, and euthanasia. How am I supposed to know what is correct religiously and morally??? That is when I look to the Bible for the answers. As a Christian I believe that God has provided an explanation to every problem that we may face in life. For abortion, stem cell research, and euthanasia the Decalogue specifically says “Thou Shalt not KILL”. There are so many other Bible refrences that I can use to explain why performing procedures such as abortion is WRONG!!! The Bible is a very important part of my life both spiritually and professionally, and this class is extremely important to me because it gives me a better understanding of the Bible and the lessons behind it. Feminist Criticism is very important because it allows us to look at the Bible from a different point of view. It allows us to look at the Bible from a historically, morally, and spiritual perspective of a woman. Since the Bible was written so long ago there are many instances where women are treated less than men, this causes many male criticism to seem a bit sexist. Femenin Criticism is a very useful tool, because it allows us to view the Bible in a way that we wouldn’t reguraly view it. The midterm was easier than I thought it would be. I ended up getting an 89 on it. The only thing that tricked me was the map cause I don’t know how to draw lol, and I couldn’t find some of the areas that we needed to find. But other then that the midterm was actually very well. It did have everything that we talked about so it was pretty easy. I HOPE THE FINAL IS AS EASY!!!
