Week 14

Hello again. Finally we are at week 14. Now only one more blog to go. Well, this looks as if it should be a pretty fun blog. It asks why do most Christians in history believe that the world will end in their lifetimes? To be blunt, I have absolutely no idea why most Christians believe this sort of thing. There is no indication of when the world will end. Many people have gone through extreme measures of preparing for the world’s end. I think that most people believe the world will end because they look at the things which happen in their time and compare it to what the Bible says about how the world will come to an end. I do not agree with this sort of thing. Throughout history, people have been saying that, “The end times are here.’ Although I agree that the last days of the world will come, I do not necessarily think that a person is capable of pinpointing the exact time, or even give an estimate of when it will happen. This is an impossible thing to predict. I seriously believe that most people just want to believe that the world will end in their lifetimes. They probably believe that it will be a pretty cool site to see. What these kind of people do not realize is that terrible things will happen before the end of the world is to come. Every passage in the Bible tells of earthquakes, famines, wars, pestilences and other things that will happen before the world is to end. Some of these things happen around the world, but not in the great terror as the Bible says. There are even passages in the Gospels where Jesus tells of things that will happen that will signal to us the the end of the world is drawing near. He basically says that the people on the earth will faint from terror at what is coming on the world. Never have terrible things like this happened during any of the earth’s ages.
The movie that we watched in class was overall, pretty cool. It was about the prophet Jeremiah. I have to admit, that I was absent the first day it was shown, so I do not know much about the first part. What I do know is that Jeremiah was a well known prophet throughout Israel. His fame had even reached that of the King himself. Jeremiah received messages from God(as did all of the prophets of the old testament) and told them to the people. Even though sometimes he is thrown in jail for his prophecies, and is sometimes persecuted for them also, he never gives up spreading God’s messages. Jeremiah comes into the Kings service at a time when Israel is at war with the Babylonians. In the end, he persuades the Kings to surrender to the Babylonians. As a result, the Babylonian ruler kills the sons of the King of Israel. After this, he is so cruel. He burns out the eyes of the King of Israel, blinding him for life. However, Jeremiah is spared the fate that the rest of Israel is forced to indure. The king of Babylon releases him. I believe it is a way of thanking him for telling the king of Israel to surrender his kingdom to the Babylonians.
As far as my grade for my project goes, I am a little indecisive. I am thinking that I deserve somewhere between a B and a C. I definitely do not deserve an A because I really did not keep up with my blogs like i really should have. So I really don’t deserve that good of a grade. I figure I should get somewhere between a B- and a C+. I did blog the required 1000 words about every week, and fulfilled some of the requirements for my project. I admit that did not do as much as I should have, but did do enough to pass.
