Most Christians believe that the world will end in there life time because it gives us a since of accountability. A lot Christians say “if the lord came today are you ready” so I think it used as sort of reality check if ones’ life is not in order. And of course the passage in revelations refers to the storms and signs that will be seen on earth when God is returning also makes one believe the world is ending soon. We have definitely witnessed some bizarre storms but I believe we as humans just like to believe in something higher than ourselves to explain the things we can’t control. For instance, Katrina, has often be referred to as signs that the world is ending. Katrina’s effect in New Orleans was a freak storm that happened mainly because of human incompetence and should be viewed as such not as the end of the world. But as I said before it is human nature to need and explanation for insane events and the need to feel accountable. I did not see the movies that you are referring to, I missed class those days do to my fathers illness.
Now to talk about the grade I believe that I deserve. Judging by the criteria you laid out I believe I excelled in some areas and didn’t do to well in others. I believe I deserve a C but I desperately want a B. I believe that I critically examine every discussion we were required to write and although I have not written all the blogs. I believe my writings showed that I am very capable of critically evaluating a topic given to me and they also show that my writings skills are up to par so a B would be unjustified. As many of my fellow classmates have said, life happens and family, stress and other school commitments get in the way. I am very disappointed that I didn’t get to devote as much time as I would have like to your class because I definitely believe I could absorb more knowledge than I did from you. I would still love to hear more about your experiences living in another country and just your personal views on issues that you alluded to in class. I hope that you go easy on me and my classmates because I don’t think we lack the intellect, drive or commitment, just time. The blogs are definitely more time consuming than I thought and once a person gets behind it is terribly hard to catch. But thanks so much for sharing you knowledge this semester.
