To Whom It May Concern:

My name is Kelly Davis. I am currently a freshman at Xavier University in New Orleans, Louisiana. As a part of one of my current courses I am taking, I have to pick an issue that is affecting the world around us. We have to take that issue and implement a project that would help fix or prevent this issue. The issue I chose to implement as a project was the teenagers’ unawareness of sexually transmitted diseases. I chose this issue because so many teenagers during this present time are having unprotected sex and are not realizing the consequences of having unprotected sex are sexual transmitted disease that may or may not be curable. For example, when I was in high school, there were so many young girls pregnant. I looked at that issue saying, if they are having unprotected sex and becoming pregnant then they are running the risk of becoming infected with a STD.

On the other hand, through research done on my project, I have found statistics that in recent years, the percentage of STD cases have gone up. I feel that because of this rise, there should be a national program that raises awareness on sexually transmitted disease. This program should be implemented into the middle schools and high schools. With this program, as the student progress throuh school, each grade level will go more in-depth on the information about STDs. I feel that this method would be an effective way to raise the awareness of teenagers. Additionally there are other methods to raises awareness. I would like to know your views and opinions on this issue. Your views and opinion are greatly appreciated. I would like to thank you in advance for your time.

Sincerely,

Kelly Davis

African American criticism is a useful tool to Bible Scholars because this method of criticism looks at the Bible in the prospective of the Africans or Africa role in the Bible. This method is a not a way to look at things from a racial view. The stories within the Bible were not written from a racial point of view. Race during that time was not a factor looked when the biblical authors wrote it. Race came along at a later date as a cultural factor to justify certain things.
