My Project

My Project
In my previous blog I bloged about the HV/Aids epidemic, and how it was the number one killer in the world. When thinking of what I could do about this epidemic my first thought went toward prevention. This is the main issue, though there has been research down on how to live with the disease, I believe that most focus should be placed on preventing people from contracting this disease. I also know that in this country the disease is most prevalent among teens and young adults. Therefore my plan would be to create a teen advocacy program. I would first obviously set a main location where I reside, and in it I would set up a teen prevention hotline, that would available to teens and young adults around the country.
The purpose of the teen prevention hotline would be to reach those teens who may be feeling pressured to maybe have unprotected sex with their partner, and don’t feel comfortable with talking with their friends or family. The teen prevention hotline would be a safe haven for them to come with their problems. If available with this program I would try to be able to set up counseling for those teens that were considered of having a higher risk of becoming involved in unsafe sexual relations.

the topic of aids and HIV is a topic thats is known too well but has little done to avoid and stop it. i think that this is a good way to put a end or decrease to the number of those becoming affected with the virus, this idea will definitely cause teens to become more aware of whats out there and how to stop it. saving 1 individual saves thousands. keep up the good work.
    - any idea where your location will be, and will it be based upon factors like race, income etc?

Aids is almost become an over rated topic maybe to the point that people dont even listen to information on it. I think the project is a good idea. I think you should find a way to make it stand out amongst the crowd. If your approach is different from most people it will grab attention of people and they will want to pay attention. If you make broshures use statistics that people dont already know or have heard of. Will this be in a neighborhood, high school or college campus?

I think this is a good idea for a project. I really like the hotline idea. This way people can remain anonymous and still get the information that they want. So many people are doing a project concerning this, including me, so I think they all of us should make one big group. A group of people can tackle one aspect, like getting the word out there, and anther could tackle your hotline. Just a suggestion so comment me back on what you think about it.

Isn’t there something like this already that you could volunteer at? Also, I’d advise as part of your project you educate yourself and then teach others. Be more specific about what you’ll do also.

i like the idea of your project. the biggest problem with the spreading of the disease is that many are uninformed about the subject. many avoid the subject, even though it is a serious one and needs to be talked about everyday if it has to be. the idea of a hotline would give people who are embarrassed about the subject a oportunity to ask any questions they have in privacy, and allow more people to be informed.

HIV and AIDS are very important and we do need to be informed more about that issue. People thses days think they know a lot about it but they really don’t.
