The two pictures to the right were included in the list of goals of my project. The picture was taken in front of my house, which is located in the Gentilly area. As you can see, the plants are really young and have a long way to go. One way to contribute to the fight against global warming is to plant trees and other plants, so I took the time out to plant this these plants in my neighbor, including my house and a neighbor’s house. Hopefully, these plants will help counter global warming. I posted two pictures because I couldnt fit all the plants into one shot. Not only will these plants contribute to the fight against global warming, but when the blossom, they will make the neeighborhood look gorgeous. So really, you can benefit in more than one way by simply planting trees or a garden. I took the time out and my father’s money to construct this flowerbed, if that’s what you want to call. It shouldn’t be too expensive, depending on the type of plants you decide to buy. However, there are other ways that you can help fight global warming that doesn’t cost you anything, not even time. A list of some priceless ways are listed on the flyers that I have passed out amongst my community. Let’s just hope that people actually take the time out to read them
My project is coming along just fine. I have a group on facebook that is dedicated to the fight against global warming. Included on the group is a brief description of what global warming is, as well as links to recent news, concerning global warming. Hopefully, my facebook group will contribute and every member will be more educated on the topic of global warming. Dr. Homan, you are welcome to join my group if you have a facebook. In addition, I hope to inspire others to take action in any way possible. In my neighborhood, I have discussed global warming with the people of my community, giving them flyers which include measures that they can take to help fight global warming. Most of these measures include decreasing their amount of energy consumption, which can also result in them saving a lot of money. I will post a picture of the flyer I passed out on my next blog, so you can take a look at it. Many people in my community have heard of global warming, but they really didn’t have an idea of what it is and it’s effects; some seem to care about the issue, while others seem nonchalant on the subject. I think that people who are unaware of the issue display a form of ignorance because global warming is a problem that is affecting the world today and will continue to affect the world in the future. They owe it to themselves to become more educated about global warming. At the end of the day, I’m satisfied because I know that I have taken a stand and contributed to fighting global warming. Global warming is causing many plants and animals to be at risk for extinction, which could really tamper with our ecosystem. Plants and cyanobacteria provide us with most of the Oxygen that we need to survive, so destroying plants don’t seem like a good direction for the world to be heading in. The people of my community seem not to have an understanding of what global warming can do our planet. I don’t think that you have to be college educated to know that global warming means trouble in future. It may be later in our lifetime, or afterwards, depending on how mankind take action against global warming. Hopefully, the many nations that exist can come together and brew up a solution. The United States definitely needs to come up with a solution because this country alone is responsible for the most carbon dioxide emission.
How was Jesus counter cultural?
Jesus was counter cultural in many ways. He befriended all sinners that were otherwise considered as outcast. Jesus also proclaimed that we should love our enemies and forgive them for all their trepasses. He forgave everyone for their sins. For example, in chapter 7 of Luke, a prostitute goes to where Jesus is dining and washes his feet but Jesus forgives her for doing so. Matter of fact, Jesus forgave all women for their sins, even the adulterers. In addition, in the society that Jesus lived in, women had a second-class status; they were not equal to men. However, Jesus included women among his disciples. The things that Jesus said also made him counter cultural. Jesus proclaimed that people should not seek revenge, but they should rather “turn the other cheek” when one is targeted. Overall, Jesus is counter cultural because he disregarded the social norms, religious traditions, and governing powers of his time. However, Jesus counter cultural acts were for a good cause and many people find it hard to live this way; the way Jesus want us to live.
Is your project counter cultural? Explain.
I think my project is counter cultural is some ways. In order to contribute to the fight against global warming, it will require that people stop engaging in certain norms of the society. For example, the burning of fossil fuel energy is an accepted norm in the society. However, the burning of fossil fuel is contributing to global warming, so what is best is to not do it. If the government passes an act to regulate the amount of carbon dioxide usage, it may require a change in people’s normal activities. In other words, going up against global warming may require people to do things that are not cultural or normally accepted. This include such things as driving less and hanging clothes to dry, which both are ways to help combat global warming. In conclusion, asking people to contribute to the fight against global warming is asking people to go against the norms of society.
