Research Stats

In this blog, I am going to do a lot of research to see the statistics in the world of world hunger and poverty. As far as I know, the statistics are pretty bad and we need to do something before it is too late. There are so many things we can do to help world poverty but we just need to actually think about it and just do it. World poverty is an issue that’s very important to our society nowadays and the number of the homeless people is increasing so much that it is time for us to look at the issue and actually do something about it that will help the issue as fast as we can and as fast as possible.

“About 25,000 people die every day of hunger or hunger-related causes, according to the United Nations. This is one person every three and a half seconds. Unfortunately, it is children who die most often.”   http://www.bread.org/learn/hunger-basics/hunger-facts-international.html

I did my project on World Poverty because I think that it is a very big issue nowadays and we finally need to look at it and do something about as it gets worse every day. Doing something now could help a lot and it could help a lot of those people who are in need of help and are close of dying. http://www.poverty.com/

According to Poverty Facts and Stats, “Almost half the world — over three billion people — live on less than $2.50 a day. At least 80% of humanity lives on less than $10 a day.” That’s just scary how someone could be living on less than $2.50 a day, no wonder why a lot of children are dying these days.

“963 million people across the world are hungry.  Every day, almost 16,000 children die from hunger-related causes–one child every five seconds.” Before I did all those research on the world’s poverty, I knew that this was a really big issue; but I didn’t think that it was that bad, that’s just horrible how the statistics are that low. We as students and future professionals need to do something about that issue and we need to do it quickly before it get any worse.” http://www.globalissues.org/article/26/poverty-facts-and-stats

Based on http://www.care.org/campaigns/world-hunger/facts.asp More than 840 million people in the world are malnourished — 799 million of them live in the developing world.

I am trying to prove my point about how we should all, as future professionals and students in college, do something about the world poverty and hunger. Because the statistics isn’t very good, homeless people increase every day. Numbers keeps going higher and higher and it is not stopping. And the longer we wait and not do anything, the faster and the worse it will get.

As I researched more and more for statistics on world hunger and poverty they said that over six million children under the age of 5 die every year as a result of hunger. Also 3 billion people in the world today struggle to survive on US $2/day. One out of every eight children under the age of twelve in the U.S. goes to bed hungry every night. I think it is something very sad that we should really do something about that issue as fast as we can. In Every 3.6 seconds someone dies of hunger.

Nearly one in four people, 1.3 billion - a majority of humanity - live on less than $1 per day, while the world’s 358 billionaires have assets exceeding the combined annual incomes of countries with 45 percent of the world’s people.

As I was doing more research about world hunger, I found this site that showed that numbers was increasing every second, and it was literally every second. According to that website, the people that were dying today because of hunger were around 24,676 and it increased in seconds. And the people who died of hunger this year were 3,359,401. And as I was looking more through the site, I found out that 113,942 foods wasted in America today. So I am thinking to myself if there are such a big number of people that are hungry today, and some people are aware of that then we do they throw and waste tons and tons of food! I just don’t really get it. And that is one of the main reasons I chose to do my project on world hunger because it is a huge issue in our society.

Some other statistics showed that the average poverty threshold for a family of four is an annual income of $19,307. It was $15,067 for a family of three; $12,334 for a family of two; and $9,645 for individuals. I knew that world hunger/poverty was a bad and a huge issue but I didn’t think it was that bad honestly, and it is worse now since the economy is really bad. And that’s why I am going to try my best to fix the problem.
