In this semester I tried to do as many things as I can to help with the huge issue that we are all facing today in our society, world poverty. I have done a couple of things this semester. I went to a food bank with one of my classmates and some of my friends from church. We did a couple of things there that I enjoyed a lot. I thought I wouldn’t like going and volunteering because of the place of the people, but I actually enjoyed it which was very surprising for me. We did a couple of things at the food bank. We packed some food for the poor so that whenever they come to pick up the food it will be ready for them. We also helped in the back of the food bank in the stock room; I saw some other people that were kind of old, volunteering just like we were. It made me happy to see them because I wanted to see more people who actually cared about the poor and the homeless and knew that it was a big issue and that is why they should come and help. In the stock room they had a lot of different types of foods that were either packed or just stacked on top of each other for the poor. Some, we had to bring back to the store itself so we can pack and get it ready right away. And some other type of foods we just had to classify them for certain people. I really liked helping out there, even though it was a little tiring I still wanted to finish what I had started and just do all the work they wanted me to do.
Volunteering at different food banks was a lot of fun. Another thing that I did to help with that huge problem was donate to the food banks cans and different types of food to the poor and who are in need of food like that. Just seeing some of these people happy made me happy as well, and decreasing the number of the homeless was just the big impact on me. Another food bank that I went to with the help of the church was New Orleans Mission, and in that food bank we helped serve food and cook food. We came in earlier before people were coming in and we helped out cook food; different types of food of course. We cooked macaroni and cheese, a piece of chicken, and corn. It was a lot of fun. After that, when the people came in expecting to eat, we served them what we cooked. Some people were there to serve the food, some were there to help fill in the plates and some others were there to fill the drinks. It was a great experience and I really enjoyed it.
The main reason why Jesus was crucified was because of our sins and to save us at the very end. But according to the gospels, another reason why he was crucified is because Jesus claimed to be the king of the Jews. So the Roman soldiers were mocking the idea so they dressed him in a purple robe and pressed a crown of thorns on his head. And there was also a sign written at the top of the cross that said King of Jews. It is also very important to remember that Jesus Christ is the Eternal God and was only crucified because he chose to allow it so he can save us all. He was also crucified because it was the will of the Father to be made for the sins of the world. However, when the Jews rose against Jesus it was not to knowingly fulfill the purposes of God; they did it because of their ignorance. The Jews didn’t crucify Jesus because he claimed to be the promised Messiah; they also didn’t crucify Him because he claimed to be the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. They also didn’t just crucify Him because they would not accept certain gospel teachings and applications. The Jews crucified the Son of God for all those reasons and many other reasons; it is because they had no faith that he really was the promised Messiah, and the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
