The project is going well. Last week, I went with one of my classmates to a food bank in Chalmette. We helped pack food and we went back to the storage room and helped deliver some food to the poor. We also helped bring food to the people who came to pick it up for the food bank; it was different and a lot of fun. All of the running back and forth, sorting out all of the boxes and cans of food goods, and the lifting of the heavy food packages made me think about how all those people could survive like that and it just made me want to help more and more. The experience was very tiring, but I didn’t mind it at all because I was thinking of my reason for doing this in the first place was to help. That’s not the only thing that I want to do to help poverty and world hunger, I am also planning to get people from my church to sign a petition so we can post it around church and around school to show that world hunger is such a big issue and we all need to take action and do something about the problem. I am also planning on going to another food bank with more people from my church and from anyone from school if they want to join and help out over there. I think it would be a great idea. Another one thing I would really love to do, is for those who can’t make it with us to the food bank from church I still want them to help by donating cans or any type of food to that food bank that we are going to. Because I think that that would really help, especially after I went to that food bank and saw how some people are in need of little food like that.
The Deuteronomist is one of the sources of the Torah that treats the texts of Scripture as products of human intellect. The Deuteronomist Historian says that a good king becomes good by following the rules and especially following the law code because it is very important. I honestly don’t think that the Deuteronomist Historian will approve of George W. Bush, because he didn’t do such a great job as a president. He also didn’t encourage the United States of America to be strong in their faith especially that it is a Christian country.
David did a lot of good things and a lot of other bad things as well. I think the worst thing that David did in his lifetime was when he committed adultery. He knew that it was something wrong but because of temptation he did it. Which still doesn’t give him any excuse of doing it, he was forgiven later but it was just the fact that he did it wasn’t something very nice. Committing adultery is such a bad sin especially that it’s written in the Ten Commandments that “thou shall not commit adultery.” And that’s why I think that was David’s worst sin. I also think that what got David to do this sin was mostly his pride. He had so much pride in himself that it brought him to sin so many sins at one time. David made another great sin which was committing murder. And what made it worse was that he didn’t commit murder to someone that he didn’t know and it was not easy for him. The person who he killed was one of his friends and he killed him because he thought that since David was the king he had the authority to do whatever he wants. So he put his friend in the front of the war so that he could die and he could take his wife. It is very brutal of him to do that. Especially that he was the King of Israel and that suppose to help him become a good role model to his people; however, it brought out the total opposite for him.
The Jerusalem Temple is located in the old city of Jerusalem, according to the Jewish beliefs, the Temple acts as if it is like the presence of God. According to my research, the temple had Women’s court to the east and the main area to the west. The main courtyard had thirteen gates. On the south side, beginning with the southwest corner, there were four gates: the upper gate, the kindling gate, the gate of firstborn, and the water gate. On the north side, which was the northwest corner, there were four gates: the gate of yechonyah, the gate of the offering, the women’s gate and the gate of song. And at last, on the east side between the women’s courtyard and the main temple courtyard had two minor doorways. On the western wall, there were two gates that did not have a name.
The history of the first and second temples is very strong. The first temple, which is also called Solomon’s Temple, is the first temple of the ancient religion of the biblical Israelites in Jerusalem and it was originally built by King Solomon which is why it was named after him. The Solomon’s Temple was destroyed by the Babylonians in 586 B.C.E. The first temple was destroyed when the Jews were exiled into Babylonian Captivity. A reconstructed temple in Jerusalem was built between 516 B.C.E and 70 CE and it was called the Second Temple. During the time of the Second Temple, it was the center of Jewish worship. The Romans destroyed Jerusalem and its Second Temple on August 4th 70 CE, and around that time the Great Jewish Revolt was begun in 66 CE.
