My Project

72 words by DeweyB.32

I chose to do my project on help grade school student in the community pass the LEAP (or GEE). I would also like to help other members of the community that did not have the chance to aquire a high school diploma complete the neccessary steps to earning a GED. I am not working on this alone. I will be working along side a fellow student not enrolled in this Theology course.

this is similar to my project but then again education is drastically need especially for the near future jobs that exist now will not exist in the future and only employment that pays well will be jobs for those with educational backgrounds will be the one with above minimum pay. this will definitely help out alot because you not only plan to help the youth but help our elders succeed and with systems such as yours and mines this recession and other economic problem will cease to exist. nice work

I must agree that this project does focus on something that is very important within the community. Im glad that you have outside sources besides people in your theology class. But, becuase it is such a big topic, it maybe hard to make a difference in such a little time, but I definetly would still try. Although the economy is bad I would suggest writing the government for funding for your idea

This is a really good idea. There are so many children who never pass these types of tests and wind up getting kept back for 1, 2 or even 3 years because they never can. The teachers might be able to help some but these kids need extra extra help in order to even dream of passing. The education system, especially the one in New Orleans, needs some serious changes. But until that happens we should help these children as much as we can.

I too would like to help students in public education, and have volunteered quite a bit in the past at local schools. What exactly will you be doing to help them pass the LEAP? We need more specifics.

  5. kandre Says:

I think that because the LEAP exam is so important, this project is important also. Coming from California, we were expected to pass an exam entitled “HSEE” or the High School Exit Exam, and although our exams was not too complicated, we must consider the people who struggle to pass it. I think this is a good project.

I think this is a great idea considering the fact that I have witnessed a lot of students failing the LEAP due to inadequate teaching. My only concern would be how would you go about helping those students to acquire the proper education that they deserve?

This is a very good project. My project is very similar to this, but my has gotten off to a slow start. I am making a difference with my neighbors kids. Both of those girls are in public school and have to pass a standardized test somewhere along the line. I think if you can’t get the big results that you are probably hoping for, just start small and things will eventually pick up.

Being that my little brother did not do so well on the leap test because of his bad teacher I agree with your project. I think that there is a need for somebody to help kids do well on their leap or GEE test. Love your project and when you start I am sure it is going to be very good.

That is a great idea, because the4 LEAP test can either make a brake a 4th or 8th grader. Those kids need all the help they can get to help them move on to the next grade. I also think helping those to obtain their GED is wonderful. I believe it is never to late to go back to school.

Even though I really don’t feel the leap test isn’t hard at all I think your project is a great one, because I know parents and children who are struggling with the idea of having to face the leap and have nervious jetters and end up failing because of it.
