Statistics, Tabernacle & “Promised Land”

After doing an extensive search on my topic I have come up with some valid statistics. Hopefully these statistics will help young people see the seriousness in these diseases. In one article I read from USA Today, it said that the known Chlamydia cases in the U.S. have topped over one million. Many of these cases were among young people between the ages of 13 and 25. This is a lot of cases seeing that the population of America is probably three times that. I also find it disturbing that some of these cases were found in 13 year olds. That is really young in my opinion. In one of my blogs I said that STDs were found in a quarter of teen girls. I found this statistic in a New York Times article. Like everyone who has responded to my blog has said, that is a big statistic in my mind. That many girls should not be found with those statistics. I think this encompasses all teen girls, like from the ranges of 13-19. I wonder what the statistic would be for boys, if they even have any.Too many young people are having sex and not worrying about the consequence. They need to know that not all of these diseases are curable, like herpes or genital warts. They can stay with you for life and you are stuck taking medications for the rest of your life. According to the CDC website, young people make up at least 15% of the new cases of HIV every year. Many people do not know that there are more than the one or two STD viruses that you know. There are at least twenty five different varieties of diseases out there. That is news to me, because I only though that there would be at least only twelve or so. That might not be seen in a lot of cases, but that does not mean that you can not catch them. There is also many different ways of contracting and STD and that is not through sexual intercourse. The title might say ‘sexually transmitted’ in its name, but some could be transferred by just swapping any type of bodily fluid. Now I want to clear up some misconceptions about HIV/AIDS. HIV is the virus that leads to AIDs. However, HIV/AIDs are not the things that kill you. I have learned in my General Biology II class that it is other diseases that can kill you. The HIV virus messes with your immune system, so when an infection gets in your body the immune system can not fight it. That infection you caught is what might potentially lead to your death. Your helper T-cells in your body is what is targeted. These T-cells are what makes the killer (ones that fight the infection) T-cells. If you do not have any helper cells to make the fighters, you can not fight the infection.
The house of God is what we call the tabernacle. This tabernacle was actually a tent that was supposed to represent God’s house in heaven. This tent was always made to face the east. This was mainly because the sun rose from that direction. The tabernacle consisted of two parts. There was a fence then there was the building inside of that fence. Inside of the fence like structure, but outside of the main building was a sacrificial place. This was where the goats and other animals were burned in order to please god. Inside the main building there were also two parts. In the front housed the menorah, this is a seven candle holder. The seven candles were meant to represent the seven days of creation and also the cosmos, like the seven planets. In the front were also some incense and a plate of bread. In the very back behind a curtain there was the arc of covenant. This was said to be the footstool of god and it housed the 10 commandments. This back area was only to be entered by the high priest once a year. I think this blueprint shows us the things God valued most. Seeing as the arc was the one thing really hidden away from everyone else, I believe that is what God kept close to him. It was his most prized possession, so he kept it mostly to himself.
There has always been an issue with the “Promised Land” God was going to let the Israelites reside in. For one thing people already lived there. So how can God promise a place to someone else when other people already live there? They can not come in and push people out claiming god gave them this land. First of all the people might not believe them and second of all it was their land first. To get this so called “promised land” they have to kill everyone in it. That is a lot of bloodshed to get what you were promised by God. That is also a problem because you can not kill everyone on the land because that would be somewhat impossible for them to do. You don’t even get the entire property you were promised. You have to fight for years and years before you are able to claim it as your own. So that sucked for them. I have to fill up my word count know, so I will just talk. The idea of a “Promised Land” seems to be a good one to have. However, it is only good if you are the only one there or if you were there first to begin with. To know that you will have a beautifu home to go to after being in captivity, for one, and wandering around in a desert for over forty years is a very nice thought in your head. It also must have sucked for the ones who were not allowed to go into the promised land, i.e the old people. They were wandering the same amount of time but they had to sit back and watch everyone else go.
