Thanks for the encouragement about my project. Honestly, I did forget about the security issues involved with schools. I know security has increased even more after Katrina. Ironically enough now that I think about it maybe I should have associated myself with my church. Greater St. Stephens’s uptown location was burned down and ever since for the past couple of months services have been held at 35. I should have mentioned that to the school and maybe they would have been a little more willing to allow me in. Even so I know I would need a top connection that could vouch for me from the church. Source Criticism is when your focus is on the origin of the writing. Textual criticism is when you focus on how the language of the text is translated into another language. Often time the source of a document is not always clear to see or it can be written in a form that is not the tradition. We learned in class that the best text to refer to is if it is shorter but also more complicated. If you think about it that makes sense. You can have a long sentence that doesn’t say enough or too much information and it is of no help to you. I think textual criticism is very important. One wrong interpretation can throw off the entire meaning of one sentence which could intern throw off the meaning of an entire paragraph or excerpt.
Torbit is a story that talks about a man who wanted Jews to have proper burial. But, in order to achieve that goal he had to fight for it. Torbit is exiled in the story and he is blinded by a bird. He is not blind until he comes back. Torbit also has a son name Tobias. Tobias and an angel go to collect some money that is due to Torbit. During the journey the angel turn into a human that becomes his right hand man. Also he has to defeat a giant fish. He takes the insides of the fish and decides to keep them to be medicine. Oh yeah, the angels name is Raphael. Some time passes on and Tobias is told by the angel that he is to marry a young lady name Sarah. Now the history with her is that every time she gets married the same night her husband is killed by a demon. So the angel tells Tobias to use the fish parts to protect them from the demon. After he save and protects Sarah from the demon he goes back home to cure his father from his blindness. Sad to say late on Torbit dies and he is buried in a specific land. God said that specific land would be destroyed and it was. I guess the main point of the story is to listen to God and he will lead you to where you are to go. He has healings and blessing already waiting on you. Maccabeus is considered a hero because he established a destiny that helped or pretty much gave independence to the Jewish people in Israel. Maccabeus was a well known rebel. His greatest revolt that gave him his power was the revolt against Antiochus.

Jesus was a person who loved everyone. When I say everyone I mean that. Anybody can love their friends, and family, but when you can love perfect strangers and even your enemies then that shows a tremendous amount of maturity. This is why Jesus would be considering being countered cultural. Do I think my project is counter cultural? Absolutely! My project, although most statistics are based on African Americans, can be related to any and everyone. This project shows that regardless of your rage and age there is important things you need to know. Men too can learn from this project. In today’s society men are expected to have multiple partners but time has come for that accepted social norm to change. Men are at just as much of a risk to contract a disease and even impregnate women. Although he does not carry the child he still carries half of the responsibility. I also believe this project is cultural because even if I did not like an individual I still wouldn’t withhold the information from them. As much as I might dislike an individual I would hate to know that I had a chance to make a difference in their life and did not because of some personal vendetta. Most of all God would not be pleased.
Although I have yet to get actual permission to pass out my flyer to individuals, I have been able to spread the message. Through the NAACP Heath and Education forum many of my ideas were stated and were discussed among the people. It was shocking to see the amount of people that did not realize how freely they choose to engage in activities with people that they really don’t know. I could not talk about these things in church but I was able to hold a social event at my apartment in which I discussed the topics. Leaders were very impressed to see the information that I presented. Although ashamed, I and many others were able to admit that one time or another we have been guilty of being careless with our bodies. Many people did say they will step back and re-evaluate the way they do things.
Jesus was crucified to save all people from sins. In the bible it states the wages of sin is death: meaning that because you sin you are doomed to die. When Jesus died on the cross because he was a perfect man he took all of our sins upon him and left them at the cross. That is why when we do make mistakes and when we sin we can go to God and ask for forgiveness. Just imagine if Jesus had not done that knowing that once u have sinned you are going to hell, the world would truly be a chaotic place. !!
