Biblical prophet’s basic job was to spread the word of God and to do whatever e asked of them. Their messages were supposed to be said to everyone, not excluding anyone particular race or group. They gave all these people advice and punished the sinners for their wrong doings. They warned people of their wrong doings before it was too late, just as God tried to do and were God’s “examples” to follow. They relate to our projects because we are doing somewhat of the same thing to a certain extent. We have come up with problems in the world and are trying to find a way to get people to listen to us to make everything better before it is too late. Although we aren’t giving out punishments for our problems, not listening is a punishment in itself because most likely you will be faced with one of these circumstances throughout life.
The story of Job has to do with God testing him. Job is living the life that most people then wanted, and is loyal to God. One day, because of a bet with Ha-Satan God’s takes EVERYTHING away from him. By doing this, God is testing him to see if he will curse him. In the midst of this, Job does not curse God. God chooses to test him further by giving him sores all over his body causing him to be in a great deal of pain. Even through all the pain, Job never curses God. Everyone around kept trying to convince Job that he had done something to anger God, but Job knows he didn’t and continues to be loyal to God by not cursing him. If this wasn’t enough, God continues to test him, but Job never fails and God eventually apologizes for questioning Job’s devotion to him. Because of this, God gives job back everything he once and much more. I’m guessing that the purpose of this story is to show that no matter how bad things are, to never ever ever give up. Katrina completely destroyed New Orleans to a point where no one wanted to re build it anymore. It was so much damage that some people just moved away because it was cheaper to just get another house. In relation to the story, victims of Katrina should keep their faith and continue to try to restore the life in their city. It seems close to impossible to ever get things back to how they once were but they cannot give up. The sun is always somewhere shining even when it rains.
Psalm 22 was David’s way of expressing the sadness he felt after being driven away by Saul and his troops. He has to leave to save his life but it depresses him, so he gets it all out in the psalm.
