3 Major Problems

There are many problems in the world today that need a considerable amount of attention and improvement in order to make our nation as a whole a lot better. The three major issues that I feel need immediate action are crime, the position of our economy, and the homeless society. All of these problems and many others need to be focused on in order to better our society and our country. Until we can overcome these issues, we will not be able to move forward as a united nation. There are many steps to transformation, but the first is to realize that there is a problem and come up with ways in which to resolve it or at least ways to get on the right track to bettering it.

The first problem that I feel that we, as a society, have and need to change is crime. The crime in this state alone is horrifying. People do not even feel safe leaving their homes anymore. Today, crime is not committed because of some problem or issue two people or a group of people are having, but rather just killing innocent people “Just Because.” This is a very disturbed society that feels that it is ok just to kill others because of being mad, depressed, aggravated, or whatever other excuses they come up with. It is bad enough that people today have to fight off illnesses that were not so common and widespread years ago, but now we have to fight off each other. Years ago people would feel comfortable leaving doors unlocked, walking by themselves, and driving home at night alone. Now, people feel intimidated to do any of these things and we cannot continue living our life in fear. Things have got to change.

The next problem that I feel we face as a society is the position of our economy. In the pass year, we have seen a great blow to our economy. People are being laid off from their jobs because of lack of business. Everyone’s luxurious behavior has been hindered lately. People cannot afford to spend lavishly on recreational things. Not only has our economy plummeted in the pass year or so, but the prices of things have risen to a point that people cannot afford many things that they need, so they are forced to do without the necessities. Our stock market has taken a dive and many people lost thousands of dollars. These are dollars for retirement and college funds. We are now in a recession and I hope that a turning point is near because I do no know how much longer our nation can survive with the economy in the position that it is in. Huge corporations are needing to be bailed out of debt. This is a debt that should not have been allowed to pile up in the way that it did. All of these negative effects are putting an enormous strain on our society.

The final significant problem that I feel is present in our society is the homeless society. Because of our busy schedules, we do not take time to sit back and realize how fortunate we are to have houses to call home, food on the table, and running water and other utilities. All of this is taken for granted. Today, we are approaching a million homeless, foodless people in the United States. Some of these people are of age to work, but do not have a job, but many are elderly and sick. These people are not homeless and foodless by choice, they are either not aware of the government programs, not knowledgeable enough to go through the application process, or not physically able to go apply. People are living without food, heat, or electricity. Some are living under the interstate or on street corners. If we can help many other countries, we surely can help our own starving citizens.

I may not be able to stop crime alone nor can I change the economy of the world, but I definitely can help the homeless and starving people. I chose pharmacy as my profession because I want to help people and make a difference in our society. I currently work at a pharmacy, so I see people struggling to pay for their medications. Every opportunity that I get, I suggest that they purchase a 90-day supply through the savings program for only $12.99. They are always so appreciative. This helps the poor with their medication, but it does not put food on the table. Every school like Xavier should have a program that centers around helping the homeless, such as a student “give a meal” program. For example, students could drop off food to a well known facility that will be distributed to the needy. This is just one way to give back and help these less fortunate people.

I fully understand this theology course’s plagiarism policy and totally agree with it. I think that it is crucial that you always write your own ideas and never take credit for someone else’s thoughts and ideas. Copying someone else’s work is a huge disadvantage to yourself and your education. You are limiting yourself and not really getting the most out of this class and your education by participating in this type of action, and I fully agree that there should be no tolerance for plagiarism.

There is no such thing as “The Bible” for two important reasons. The first reason and probably the most important reason is because of the fact that the bible means different things to different people. When different people think of the word bible, they do not both think of it the same way and that is why we have no such thing as “The Bible.” The other reason why there is no such thing as “The Bible” is because we do not have one manuscript written by Moses. Rather, there are many different manuscripts that are not one hundred percent consistent with each other. So, there is no existence of “The Bible.”
