My Project

One of the main world problems that I have chosen to talk about is World Hunger. I think it is one of the biggest issues we are all facing today in the world, and it’s facing a lot of problems with it as well. One of the main reasons I chose to talk about world hunger is because it relates to my major, Chemistry Pre-Pharmacy. There are millions of people out there that are starving to death, and some of those parents can’t afford to feed their children, and they eventually see their children die in front of their eyes. According to statistics, in every 3.6 seconds someone dies of hunger, and it is estimated that some 800 million people in the world, suffer from hunger and malnutrition, about 100 times as many as those who actually die from it each year. We, as educated people need to look at that problem and try to find a solution before it’s too late. And that’s why I chose this issue to talk about as My Project. Everyone needs to be aware of this problem, especially those who are science majors. You don’t want to see one of your patients being sick because of what they eat, and the reason is because they can’t afford to eat better food.
After looking and searching about all those statistics and found out that it’s very serious in the world and it gets world every second, I decided that I need to step in and find something to help those people. For my project, I am going to volunteer at a couple of places like Second Harvest and other food banks, with my church. I am going to get signatures from those who are coming with me and those who won’t be able to make it will volunteer food. I am going to take pictures at those places proving that I did that. I am also thinking, with the help of a couple of friends, to create a Facebook group to make people aware of how big this problem is getting and how fast we have to do something about it before it’s too late. I wish that by doing something small like that will help, however; I know that it won’t right away, but it’s going to take time. And I am willing to do anything to solve this issue, because it’s very important. If anyone has any other ideas, suggestions, or any help especially if you would like to volunteer, that would be great; so feel free to comment.

I agree with you Martina. Hunger is a horrible thing especially when it can be a threat on someone’s health or even life. Unfortunatly, it is a big threat on people’s lives all around the world and people still take what they have for granted. However, I’m glad to see so many people in our class so motivated about finding a soulution to this issue. I think that you should join the other people in our class hand in hand because a big group trying to solve the same problem is better than many small groups. Also I like the facebook idea. You should also do a video and post it on You Tube to inform more people about the issue.

It seems like you are very informed about your issue that you have chosen, so the amount of effort that you could put into this project should be a great one. I admire that you have such a personal connection to your cause; a lot of people take on a cause but it is questionable if they really care about their project. A lot of your fellow classmates are doing a similar project, so maybe you all can collaborate with each other and create that much of a better project. I hope that you have a lot of success with this project!

I agree with the other people who left a comment about this project on the fact that possibly teaming up with others in the class will be more effective. This is such a great cause that you definitely have shown to have a great passion about. The more you can get the word out about what you are doing for your project, the better it will be. I think the facebook idea would be great and very effective. I think too that picking a specific date to volunteer and advertising that is more effective than just saying you are going to volunteer and not being specific about when!

Your problem seems to be similar to mine own, which is to end poverty. I like how you used statistics to show how much people are actually starving. 800 million is almost a billion and there are only about 5 or 6 billion people living on this planet! But I am wondering, what is your solution? You analyzed the problem, but how can we fix it? If I can make a suggestion, we can both work on this problem together. Solving my problem can solve your problem as well!

No one should have to leave life starving even if they are homeless. The country needs a better program that feeds the homeless without depriving them their self-esteem

World Hunger is a major issue in the world. The parts that kills me is that a sufficient amount of food is produce and people still are not able to access as much food that we tend to waste sometimes. I’m glad that you intend to join groups to help eliminate this crisis. I am utmost willing to donate food when you need it. Establishing a group on facebook is a good idea that I had in mind to get people to contribute in the fight against global warming. T-shirts would be a bad idea either, you think? I’m glad someone is giving this issue attention because there are so many problems in the world and some may be looked over because it’s not directly affecting us. Good luck!

Alot of people have chosen food hunger as a project and its a good idea. Feeding and helping the homeless is greatly needed especially in New Orleans. Good Luck

I am glad you chose to address this topic and I definetely agree with you, Martina. I also chose to address the topic of world hunger because I feel that it is a big problem that affects today’s world. I am willing to help you on your project if you need it. Marteena, we were both on the same wavelength. My good also recognized the problem of World Hunger. We both share similar statistics and necessity for help. I like your idea to ask for volunteers.

Your project is very similar to mine. So, of course I think it is a stupendous idea!! Getting others to take part in your project is a great idea. I tried that but it did not work. Volunteering at Second Harvesters was a great experience and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. I think you can get some people to donate to these food banks. You can also look into volunteering at the New Orleans Mission (?) and help feed the homeless. I did that before, not for this project, and it was lots of fun. Overall I think your project will be fun!!

Our projects are very similar and I also feel that world hunger is a very serious issue that needs to be resolved. Hopefully our projects together will help eliminate a great deal of hunger in the world. I am very interested in how your volunteering projects worked out. I think your project is a great idea because that just happens to be what I’m doing my project on. I think everyone should just do there part inthe world and help out with poverty and hunger if they can’t do anything else. I think maybe you should do what I’m doing an volunteer at home less shelter.

I am really glad you chose this topic. Many people do not even care that others starve nor do they pay attention to the fact that they do nothing to help or that it is a world wide problem. This may caused by what country they come from, or even if they may have a job or not. Because hunger has a bigger population in other countries besides the united states, will you be able to expand your project to help them? Also, There are many volunteer services here in New Olreans that need help to feed people.
