This is my logo and representation that summarizes my project. This is the logo of the organization that we will be assisting to help distribute food to the hungry. This organization represents lending a helping hand to people that need it. I think that is the best representation that captures the idea of my project. We need to help the less fortunate, and that is the sole goal of this organization. They are very successful at what they do and I admire their hard work and dedication to the community. I cannot wait to become a part of this organization to help fight poverty and hunger.

Before singly commenting on the comments that I have received I just want to thank everyone for supporting my fight against poverty. I hope that it is a success and that people will continue to help the community in as many ways as possible. I hope after we are finished organizing the project that everyone at Xavier and in the community help in participation to eliminate poverty and hunger. There is no shame in being less fortunate, but there is shame in the more fortunate not helping these people that do not have anything.

First, Breannah Lemieux, Thanks for the support and encouragement. I hope we do get a great amount of participation because I think that people need to stop taking everything that they have for granted and help the less fortunate. There are many people in great need of necessities such as food and we need to help them.

Leander Brumfield, Thank you so much for the positive feedback and comments. I agree that Xavier should continue to do this food drive because it would reinforce to the community that one of the most important goals at Xavier University, besides education, is to give back to our community and help in any way possible. We need to show the community that we volunteer to help at any chance we get. Thanks again Leander.

Marteena Girgis, I totally agree with your statement. Hunger is an enormous issue facing our country and community. I would love for us to combined and go to Second Harvester’s Food Bank together. The more people we get involved to fight hunger and poverty, the more of a success the project to eliminate poverty will be. If we work together we can make a bigger difference in our community. Thanks for the suggestion!

Dannielle Foster, Thanks for the encouragement. I totally agree that yet hunger is an enormous problem in foreign countries, it is pretty disturbing that we have people in our own city suffering from starvation yet that goes unnoticed. No one works to eliminate the poverty happening in our city, but we are all willing to help foreign countries. We need to find a mix between the two. I am not saying that foreign countries are not important to worry about, but we have to take care of it in our area also. We are extremely fortunate to have a place like Second Harvester’s Food Bank that tries to supply food and other items to people that do not have anything. The only problem is that in order for a place like this to keep functioning, we need people to donate the food and other items. This is why we are doing both sides of the poverty issue. Thank You!

Matriarchs and Patriarchs as good role models are not too evident when you look at them. The Patriarchs of the Bible are Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. The Matriarchs of the Bible consist of Sarah, Rebekah, and Rachel. The lessons that the matriarch and patriarchs learn throughout the Bible are good life lessons. They are not very honorable people because they all deceive each other in many different ways. The deception of the family dates back to Abraham then goes all the way to Jacob, Abraham’s grandson, who deceives many people including his brother, Esau, for his birth rights. Yet they are the chosen family by God, the deception simply goes round and round without any remorse. It is not bad enough that the deception went all the way to Jacob, but then Jacob’s children deceive him. They might not be the stereotypical role models that you want to base your choices around, but they definitely show you the consequences of deception and why it is wrong. I have learned from their family and their deception that what goes around comes around.

I agree with and respect all of the Ten Commandments of the Decalogue, but my favorite would have to be to honor your mother and father. I like this commandment because it shows us how to love and respect others. I feel that you should always show respect and gratitude to your parents. My parents are the two people that have shaped me into the person that I am today. They have instilled into me the morals and beliefs I need to be the person that I want to be. They are the most important and influential people in my life and that is why I find this commandment to be my favorite. My parents give up so much for me to have what I need, and the least I can do is honor them and show them how much they mean to me.

The Suzerain-Vassal Treaties were created by the king for his people and include historical background. There are so many varieties to the Ten Commandments and the Decalogue. Most versions have the same commandments just in a very different order, and because of this it became confusing to tell which were the true commandments and which were not. One way to achieve this was to utilize the Suzerain-Vassal treaties. There were guidelines and stipulations to the treaties. The stipulations and guidelines were created to establish a way to tell the difference between the different versions of the Ten Commandments. Which ever set of commandments followed these guidelines and stipulations were the real commandments, and this is how the Decalogue and Ten Commandments fit into the context of the Suzerain-Vassal Treaties.
