Katey — Thank you very much for your suggestions to my project. I think including health issues when addressing obesity is a great idea because it will definitely tie in with my chose career as a pharmacist!

Marteena — I am in process with getting in touch with the organization and hopefully planning an event with them. Should this come to a head before the end of the semester, I would definitely love your help! I will let you know!

Fatina — I really appreciate your feedback on my project. I am definitely going to try and get some advertising out about this. Facebook is such a great tool that I did not think about using until you mentioned it.

Janet – Thank you so much for your encouraging words with my project. I have found that I could definitely use some help with my project if you are still willing and want to help. Just let me know!

Leedatboy – I totally agree with your comments about obesity being a huge cause for health concerns! There is too much obesity in the world today, especially in Louisiana!

Volleyball 1689 – I really appreciate you taking the time to thoughtfully acknowledge all that my project could bring to the world. I really appreciate your enthusiasm for it. Hopefully all aspects of what you believe my project holds will shine through during the coming weeks!

Yaesha – Thank you so much for supporting my cause and agreeing with what I have chosen.

I have chosen the new food pyramid from www.mypyramid.gov as the image for my project because I believe it encompasses both aspects of my project perfectly. I think the new food pyramid with the active man could easily have a slogan to say something like “stepping up to better health.” There are both health concerns for people who do not eat properly in a malnourished diet and health concerns for people who do not eat properly and become obese/overweight.

Following the ideals of the food pyramid can easily lead to a better, healthier, and longer life. If you aren’t familiar or haven’t noticed, the food pyramid has added a whole new aspect to it — exercise! I know exercise and physical activity are some people’s forbidden words. However, without some type of exercise (unless you have an excellent working metabolism) maintaining or losing weight is virtually impossible. In my daily life, I try to do little inconspicuous things to incorporate activity. I don’t mind working out but much prefer to do it with someone. As of late, I have no one to do it with. Therefore, I try when I am at school to never take the elevators and always take the stairs even if my class is on the 4th floor. Also, I park my car at the end of the parking lot rather than close to walk a few extra steps. Also, I have a break after this class in Xavier south and rather than riding in my car back to the science building for my lab, I walk. Although these are small measures in my everyday routine, they can make a difference in my physical activity.

Also, I always try to keep a bottle of water with my at school. Did you know that half of hunger (feeling hungry) is actually thirst?? Most people are not hydrated. By keeping water with you, you feel fuller, stay hydrated, and are less likely to binge out on foods that are not so good for you.

No I definitely do not believe that the patriarchs and matriarchs are good role models. The patriarchs have tons of wives (although this was accepted in the culture at the time), which implies that have tons of baby mommas! This practice is not a good role model in today’s world full of uncared for children, STD’s, and respect missing from being with one man or one woman. The matriarchs were not good role models either as they  allowed their husband to have tons of mistresses and tons of children with other women and just accepted it. I also believe that the patriarchs and matriarchs were not good role models because at some point in most of their lives they strayed from god. Although this illustrates god’s love for us, it is not a practice that should be followed today. Sinning is not ok because we believe that god will forgive us and move on with life just as he did with the patriarchs.

I have never in my life thought about what my favorite commandment from the 10 commandments would be. I have to say that my favorite commandment is the first commandment that says “You shall have no other gods before.” I think the only I chose this as my favorite commandmant is because this one leaves very little room for interpretation. The point is that there is only one god and from this monotheistic viewpoint, we will believe in this one god. This is straightforward and for me very easy to obey.

The Ancient Near East Suzzerain Vassal treaties encompassed 5 main points:

1. Historical prologue which identifies the Suze and his accomplishments

- I am not exactly sure how this parallels the giving of the 10 commandments to Moses other than god probably had a speech with Moses before handing the commandments over. This speech probably accomplished how great God was and how wonderful life would be as long as the people followed his command.

2. Prime Stipulation = Suze will be the only suze

- This parallels the 1st commandment when god says “I am the lord your god and you shall have no other gods     before me”

3. Subsequent Stipulations which implies that the vassal must do X, Y, and Z

- This parallels the remaining commandments (2-10) in that each susequent commandment tells you as the vassal what you need to do. For example, you must keep the sabbath, honor mom and dad, don’t murder, commit adultery, steal, etc.

4. Provisions for the treaty = put in the footstool of the suze

- This parallels placing the tablets of the 10 commandments in the ark of the covenant which was in reality god’s footstool.

5. Cursings and blessings =

- This parallels the giving of the 10 commandments because this was done after the commandments were given to Moses as god cursed and blessed the people so as long as they followed the covenant.
