In caring out research I had to be careful not to get any false sources about the facts so everyone would know exactly how why I choose to address the three big problems in today’s world and to reinforce this issues in my project. Everything in the article is all facts no fiction I also have strong support to back up what I say, just in case someone wants to debate about anything that is said. Honestly I was shocked myself to discover the truth. Not everyone can handle the truth but if you feel like your strong to hear about the truth feel free to read this blog. My research and statistics are strictly based from New Orleans, Louisiana since I’m here temporarily while attending school and also since New Orleans, Louisiana has been the place where I have been conducting my project. According to Dollars & Sense, the average household income in the United States is $41,994, compared to the state of Louisiana at $32,566, the city of New Orleans at $27,133, and more specifically the Lower Ninth Ward at $19,918. The percentage of population living in poverty in the United States is 12%, compared to the state of Louisiana at 20%, the city of New Orleans at 28%, and the Lower Ninth Ward at 36%. In both comparisons of income and poverty, the Lower Ninth ward appeared to be significant lower than any other. Many people who aren’t familiar with New Orleans may say that poverty is bad because of Hurricane Katrina. Katrina had nothing to do with Katrina a long time before the storm New Orleans has been suffering with poverty. The reason why I spent my research especially in the Lower Ninth Ward is because it’s the worst area of the city where people face poverty. The Children’s Hospital of New Orleans is Louisiana’s top pediatric medical center. People from everywhere travel here because the hospital offers many specialties to treat all types of diseases. This hospital is a nonprofit organization and receives funds and endowments from the state of Louisiana. There are 400 pediatricians and pediatric specialists, 6800 new patients each year, 156,400 visits in a year. In 2008 the Children’s Hospital was recognized for serving all the Louisiana parishes, 42 states, and 3 countries. Dr. Homan statistics is very difficult for me to complete because first of all in the Lower Ninth Ward that information was given the year after Hurricane Katrina occurred. You know as well as I know that many people weren’t back in their homes that fast. As far as statistics with the Children’s Hospital that information is extremely confidential so I information about the hospital wasn’t leaked over the web. The statistics about Children’s Hospital is strictly from their home web page and even much so it’s more facts than anything.
