Implementing the Plan of Action

So far the implementation of my project is going very well underway, although taking quite a bit of time. The project is an on-going project that will take some time to have fully implemented but I am very pleased with the status so far. As of the end of February I have three prospected schools that are very interested in participating in the Girls First Nationalization process; of these three include Texas Southern University, Southern Mississippi University, and Midwestern State University located in Texas. The reason why I choose to ask these schools to participate first is because I have some peers that attend these institutions. By having individuals that are located in the area it makes it much easier to have communication and a face to match the idea. I do plan on visiting these sites and locations for any question, comments, and finalization steps that are needed to sway these universities into participating with the program. I do agree with most of my classmates that it is a bit overwhelming to have such a huge project in your hands as well as trying to complete the day to day tasks that are given. Even though handling school, work, and other situations may seem to be overwhelming I cannot help but feel obligated to do my part with helping the poverty level across the nation. Growing up in a single parent home with a mother that worked two jobs and attended college most of my childhood, I knew the value of education. My mother kept my siblings and me on the right path by being as active as possible in our childhoods. My mother did show that she wanted more for us than what she could provide for us so she enlisted my siblings and me into summer camps, activities at the local playground, and mentor programs to show us that there was more to life than what we saw in our neighborhood. I feel inspired each time I help one of the individuals in the Girls First program. I know by expanding and sharing this feeling with those individuals that can relate to these girls we can have a major impact on the generations to come, hoping that they share and pass down the help. I plan to continue this project even though it may take more time than the end of the spring semester.
I believe that this class pertains to all careers for professional living. The bible and stories are vital to being a well rounded individual. By possessing the knowledge that the bible offers as well as living by the standards given many are being helped become more productive individuals. This class teaches more than just how to decipher the bible and its teachings it also helps us as individuals become well rounded. We are asked to perform a service in almost every career wither it is customer service or actually performing a task. This class has expanded my thinking and views that I have on certain perspectives. The class as a whole has helped me to become more articulate and to think about things that are said to be “true.” When reevaluating ones’ self and the aspects of how this class is beneficial to my career the options are truly unlimited. As a double major I see the side of how it will help in both careers and most of those benefits truly overlap. The overlapping shows how any career can be beneficial by taking this class and truly learning and understanding the concepts and views instead of just memorizing to pass the class. By honestly participating and engaging in this class you learn to be able to compose your thoughts, speak in front others, and the truth about many mysteries in the bible.
Feminist Criticism is important is many ways. One reason why feminist criticism is important is because it is used to show the strategies that men use to explain their treatment of women. Most women in the bible are treated like property and must be subservient to the males in the stories. Not only are most of the women in the bible treated like property they also resort to violence and sexual abuse to show their dominance. Another reason is to show how women were willing accepting this subordinate position bestowed upon them. They were the housewives, mothers, care givers, and sexual partners. Women were not allowed to say no or to question what their husbands did with their concubines. Some women even were the concubines or other wife. These overlapping denominators show how men were portrayed as the greatest of the gods and the best for their wives. This is how men in those days kept women in the mundane that they thought was proper. This view is very necessary when reading stories written by men for men. To help understand how these stories were written you must first understand feminist criticism and how it relates to your readings. Feminist Criticism is not just for those individuals who are feminist; this can be found very educational for men as well.
Well let’s see midterm was so so. The midterm exam was pretty much what it was stated to be in the study guide it’s just a lot of information to remember in such a short time. My midterm grade for this class was about what I expected it to be, however I know now what I have made mistakes on and need to improve on to make the A in this class. Many complained about how the midterm was so much information but those individuals must know that this is a university requirement and college level course. This midterm prepares you for what classes and test can be like in the future. I understand that the test is not to fail individuals or to get them to drop the class but to make sure that we have a complete understanding of what we are discussing daily. Hopefully finals will go just as well or better studying more will help me to prepare.
