Week 14: What I believe my Grade Should be
1002 words by leedatboy
Dr. Homan I strongly believe that my grade should be an “A.” I state this because I really put a lot of passion in theology and eagered to understand the concepts of theology from a biblical aspect. I can’t honestly say that I learned everything about the bible because I was only in class for a semester. But what I did learn in your class for the very short time I was in it was valuable and an experience I wouldn’t forget. I treated each blog from1-15 just like it was my last. Theology 1120 with you have been my favorite class this semester. At first I thought theology was going to be boring but you but a twist in class to make it fun. I also like how you gave us opportunities in class to ask questions instead of just lecturing. Many Christians believe that the world will end in their lifetimes. This is believed because prophets are preaching what suggests a time of ending. With every new decade, there were views of signs of the end of the world changed. The book of Revelation plays a big part of these beliefs because often times preachers use passages out the text to prove these theories. Being the last book of the Bible it is the last thing reading, leaving readers with the impression that the end is near. Revelation states over and over again that God is coming soon. Every time something big or dramatic happens Christians usually interpret it as the return of Christ. And just like you I’ve always wondered why most Christians believe the world is going to end in their lifetime. No one actually knows so is left with the idea that God will return before they die. Some people see things, such as wars, diseases, tragedies, and unholy living, as signs of the end. The reason each generation believes that it will come in their lifetime because of the following examples I said. World wars brought about speculation and pretty much any major war where a lot of damage was done. HIV/AIDS can be viewed as diseases and many people believe they are predicting the worlds end. People justify these happenings and other natural disasters as God’s warning signs. I have experienced the opinions of others when Katrina hit New Orleans. People said there was too much corruption and problems with the city so he nearly destroyed it. I have not decided if I believe that but many people do. They see warnings in natural disasters as justifications why God would send down something so horrible. With the changes in weather and natural disasters I can see why people believe the world would come to an end during this time in our lives. The world is only becoming progressively worse with each new generation. Many people are trying to reverse the effects but at times it seems almost helpless. When the Twin towers were attacked in New York City on September 11,2001, people were calling the radio telling stories of how the attacks meant that the world was ending. It’s funny how people who know nothing about the bible can just assume that the world would end as soon as something bad occurs. Too many people try to apply the bible to everyday living. It doesn’t matter if one is living in past, present, or future. Anyone can interpret how they want the bible to mean.I think that one of the most unanswered questions in history is when will the world finally come to an end. At least that is a major question running through my mind. I wish I could just look up and ask God when he will call us home to him but I know that isn’t possible. If it did then everyone would try to act perfect for when God said he was coming back. I personally don’t know why most Christians believe that the world will end in their lifetime. I think that we as Christians may be born with that instinct in our mind. Maybe it is because the world seems to be getting worse every day and we just assume that it is because the end of time is near. But maybe that is just how it seems for every generation. What if the world was just as bad or even worse let’s says two hundred years ago? No one really knows when the world will come to an end. Our job is to be prepared for when that time comes and live every day like it is our last. God wants us to live right and treat people the way we would want to be treated. It should not matter when the world comes to an end if we are prepared for it every day. It will all come in time and I do not think that we should fear the end of time. If you obey the laws set by God there isn’t no problem to worry about when God wants to come back. It’s my goal to reach the kingdom of heaven but I do not feel that I can accomplish or improve my chances by being scared to live everyday or by worrying about when the world will come to an end. I am just trying to be the best that I can possibly be every day of my life and I am trying to stay on the right path according to God’s will. Although I veer away from that path sometimes, as do all people, I do get myself back on the right path and try to stay grounded in the word of God. God comes first in my life and I owe everything that I have and will ever accomplish in my life to him.
