Week 9

1012 words by yaesha

My project is going fairly well. I decided to change it up a bit yet again. I decided to focus on young teenagers who are already around me. I took a look around my community and family and said to myself, “You know Yaesha these young children really look up to you, and they could use some advice as well as some words of enocouragment.” So, I decided to talk to them, and try to get through to them. I have a cousin who is sixteen years old. She, as well as her friends, are not putting their all into their schoolwork. They are all very intelligent children who have so much potential but are just not interested in learning. They would rather be doing other things that they should not be doing. They are more worried about who has been talking about them or who has been trying to talk to their girlfriend or boyfriend. I went to her house when I knew she would have some of her friends over as well as other family members her age. I talked to them about the importance of education. I also told them about my experiences here in college and how I wish I had done some things differently. I told them that if they want a nice car and a big house they have to work for it. Things are not going to be handed to them. I explained to them that in these times one has to have a high school diploma, a bachelors degree, and even now a masters degree to even be considered as real competition. I explained to them that they have to do their absolute best so that they will not have any regrets in the future. I also talked to them about sex and how peer pressure can make them feel like they have to be sexually active but that is not the case. I explained to them how hard it would be to accomplish all of their dreams if they suddenly became teenage parents. They would lose not only their innocence but their freedom. I just really sat down and had a very deep conversation with them. I gave them the harsh realities and stressed as much as I could that they need to focus solely on their education and future. I also explained that not everyone has to be a doctor or lawyer to be considered successful. I told them that we need teachers, writers, businessman, even artist. I tried to drill in their heads that they can be anything they want to be.

A good king is a king who not only makes the laws but abides by the laws himself. A good king must practice what he preaches. A good king is also supposed to make sure that his people follow the laws as well. Also a king is supposed to believe in and worship God and makes sure that his people do the same thing. If a king cannot control his people in any of these aspects then he will basically be thought of as an unsuccessful king.

I am not sure that the Deutoronomistic Historian would approve of the way George W. Bush . As I have already said the Deutoronomistic Historian thinks that a good ruler should believe in God and make sure that his people believe in the same God and worship that God solely. George Bush did  not do this. Afterall the president of the Unites States is not thought of as a religious leader. The president is supposed to focus on the politcal issues and solve them. The president of the United States is not really concerned about what religion the citizens practice. The United States does not tell the citizens what religion to practice. We choose that solely on our own. Perhaps the deutoronomistic historian would not like the United States because we do not focus on religious beliefs to run our country. George W. Bush did not do anything to promote or help the well being of the curches in our country. In my opinion, ,George W. Bush did not do anything but create multiple problems for himself and most importantly our country.

The worse thing that David did was sleeping with Bathsheba and causing Uriah’s death.  This was totally unnecessary, and I do not think that David should have done that.  Bathsheba then ends up pregnant. To top it off David tried to bring her husband back from war to sleep with her so that he would think the baby was his.  When Uriah would not sleep with his wife, David ordered that Uriah be put on the front line of battle so that he would be killed. I think that this was very cruel of David, and he should have just been honest about the whole thing. If he did not want to get Bathsheba pregnant then he should not have took that chance by sleeping with her. Even though he ended up marrying Bathsheba in the end, it still does not excuse him by any means of sleeping with a married woman. The acts performed by David did not portray him as being a good leader. A good leader would never had committed adultery, or ordered that one of his soldiers be put in the most dangerous line of battle to ensure his death.

The Jerusalem temple, also known as the holy temple, is located on a land of elevation.  The Jerusalem temple can also be classified as the holiest site in Judaism. The first temple was built by king Solomon. Originally the temple was supposed to be built solely for the ark of the covenant. The temple built by king Solomon was supposed to be built for the replacement of the tabernacle and would be classified as God’s permanent home. That temple was destroyed in 586 B.C.E. and another was built in its place. This temple was later destroyed by the Romans. This temple was also much smaller than the original temple built by king Solomon.

It’s ok to change your project a little bit. I still think it is great that you are trying to encourage those around you the importance of education. With them being more focused on school it would definitely reduce their focus on dating which can possibly lead to pregnancy. Keep up the good work!=)

I think that its great that you want to be more involved with the younger children. They really do need positive role models to look up to and help them with difficult decissions. Sometimes its not enough to talk to a parents, but to talk to someone thats closeer to your age group is easier. Maybe you could have a focus meeting each week with other students that are in college and give them a tour so that they can have something to look forward to accomplishing. Great job I support you 100%.

That’s good your project is looking to be going in the right direction. Everyone needs a role model in life to help guide them so they make wise decisions in life. Word of advice keep a positive attitude in everything you do, children can really sense when your passionate.

Your project seems to be going in the right direction. I’d love to see what kind of impact you could make if you reached out to teens beyond who all are close to you. I think you have the ability to positively impact these teens lives.

I think it is a great idea to be a role model for younger children. Many children need that extra support and help and you are providing this. I just hope you keep it up becasue it is always good to give back to the community.
