Both of my projects turned out to be very successful and well worth my time. I managed to serve 42 hours at the Children’s Hospital and 28 hours in the Lower Ninth Ward. Dr. Homan I would like to thank you for challenging the entire class to execute a project to make the world a better place. I can honestly say that I was able to accomplish and make a difference, at least a better place in the community. At the Children’s Hospital I devoted three days out of the week spending time with the children and giving them encouraging words. So many children are fighting diseases and struggle just to live for another day. I know just the other day I spent time with infants in the N. I.C.U. and it is extremely remarkable to see the dysfunctions their born with and sometimes have to face for the rest of their life. The hospital made me have a better appreciation for life and not to take the little things in life for granted. I think that this is something that the whole class should experience at least once. I tried my best to equally distribute my time so I went to the Lower Ninth Ward three days out of the week also. At the Lower Ninth Ward I interacted with people of the community and dealt with many personalities as well. Overall I can conclude that the people of the Lower Ninth Ward isn’t that bad as people perceived them to be What I realized is there are a lot of people confused with no role to teach them the difference between right and wrong. The people are really misunderstood and need more individuals to that are willing to give them a chance. A lot of times people are able to manipulate the people in that area just for the simple fact that their nieve. At the end of the day it doesn’t matter what environment you stay, everyone is human and needs the attention. Often times people use there pride and develop ways to look at those less fortunate as nothing. People were happy to see me give interest in the conversation. Sometimes people just want someone to talk to who would listen to what they have to say. I found myself in a somewhat odd possession when I seen that I was actually giving information and knowledge to those who where older than me. As you can see my heart ended up telling me to take on the responsibility of two tasks. Overall my two in one project concept was very successful. I did and accomplished more than I thought I would. Once I started and knew what to expect with both projects I was able to help each in both projects better. In the Lower Ninth Ward there’s a way that people like to be approached. That way is to start off saying hi, acknowledging their presence as a person. After that don’t rush into conversation, instead if the person wants to talk they will start off the conversation. In this process I really didn’t have to talk that much I just listened and if I was asked a question I was more than happy to answer. Once I learned the basics of how to talk to people from the Lower Ninth Ward there were times when people would share with me personal information and ask more my advice on what I thing will be the best thing for them to do. That’s a way you can tell people in the Lower Ninth Ward look up to you and trust you as an individual. At the Children’s Hospital there were certain rules I had to meet before I could be with the children. At the hospital as my usually routine I would meet with teenagers to keep them company. I know how hard it can be as a teenager stuck in the bed all day. Some days I would spend time with infants in the intensive care unit. Jesus was crucified for more than one reason. He was crucified for the political situation in the Roman Empire and for the spiritual circumstances as well. They believed he was trying to take over and declare himself king of the Jews, which did not go over well for those who did. They were also upset that he declared himself and others regarded him as a messiah. When Jesus referred to a king he was talking about the king of the Kingdom of Heaven. The Romans believed that he was committing a great crime against the emperor. They thought he was working against the emperor and threatening the throne because so many people were beginning to follow him. Jesus was crucified, because he was charged by the Chief of priests for undermining the Jewish law and stirring up and starting complications. Jesus had to die on the cross to convey to the world what true love was. Jesus had everything, yet he chose to give us a chance at salvation, because he truly loves us. He was persecuted physically, mentally, and emotionally, but yet he still stayed true to his purpose. He showed us that yes man can walk the path of righteousness, but you must humble yourself first. He was soon arrested for breaking this law against the emperor. Before he was crucified, however, he had to go before a judge who would determine Jesus punishment. Many of the Jewish leaders insisted that he be crucified. The spiritual side of it was that Jesus was meant to be crucified. He had to die in order for us to live. You may be wondering why he did not try and defend himself when he had the chance. He felt whatever the judge decided was what God had planned for him. It was Jesus fate to be crucified if he wasn’t everyone life would be condemned. It wasn’t an easy decision for God but he knew it was something that he had to do.
