The biblical prophets are people put in place to speak on behalf of God. The popularity of being a biblical prophet was about as popular as hot chocolate on a hot summer day. Though this was true anyone could be a biblical prophet. Isaiah was the only prophet who actively seeked the role while other complain about how difficult the job seemed to be. The idea of biblical prophets relates to our project because we are called to spread a message. Some of the messages being spread are surely not some of the most popular to be spreading at this current time, but someone has to do it and our theology class consists of the chosen one’s to do so. In addition there was most likely some opposition about the idea of even implementing a project, but it is clear that many people found it very rewarding in the end.
Job, a good man that suffered many hardships, can be connected to the people of New Orleans and the keen desire to rebuild. Job was tested numerous times by God as a way of showing his obedience. Job was a very loyal follower of the Lord who ended up losing his family and contracting a disease all before he got rewarded with many blessing. Ultimately Job had a choice, to give up and die or fight the battle and come out on top by keeping faith in God. For the many people of New Orleans that choice was very similar. Faith was a major factor in many people rebuilding their homes after Katrina hit in 2005. Many of the native people to New Orleans decided not to come home after the storm for fear that something such as Katrina would happen again. For those that did acknowledged the fact that they were taking a gamble in returning and rebuilding and had to run the risk of encountering such a storm again. It was a risk and just as Job used faith as the only driving factor for his continuing his life, the people of New Orleans possessed a faith that nothing as severe as Katrina would happen again. Just as Job was a key figure in the Bible, the book of Psalms also plays a big role in the world of bible readers. Psalm 22 in particular a lament in which a sufferer is begging God to intervene. He is trying to figure out why everything is not working out for him and asks God constantly to help with this situation. Ultimately the lesson for this particular psalm is that God is always there no matter where you are and whether you think he is or not.
