As I have grown up, one of my biggest fears is that the end of the world will occur in my lifetime. I have been deathly afraid of the unknown, and I try not to imagine when this time will come. All I hope is that I will no longer be alive when this event occurs. Throughout my lifetime I have heard many stories about the end of the world. Some dates that have been predicted have passed by, and others are predicted for the near and even distant future. Most Christians believe that the world will end in their lifetime because most people are influenced greatly by the thoughts of others. People are extremely gullible and will believe anything they are told. Throughout history people have tried to predict the future, and the end of the world is one event that has been a popular date to try and predict. Most Christians read The Bible and try to relate the stories to their lifetime. Along with stories from The Bible, most people will read anything from the past and find a relationship with a current event in their lifetime. The end of the world is no exception to this prediction. Recently a date has been predicted for December 21, 2012 to be the end of the world. If this date passes on and the world remains just as before, people will find another date to relate to the end of the world. Many Christians will read stories in The Bible explaining multiple events that will occur when the world is coming to an end. Recent people have related natural disasters such as Katrina and many other natural disasters to the vivid stories explained about the end of the world. As time progresses and more disasters occur around the world, the predictions of the end of the world will greatly increase. Most people try to predict the end of the world, but just like all other future events, no one can predict what has not already happened. I have learned a lot from Theology class about the end of the world. One thing that will stick with me in particular is the fact that the end of the world may not be a bad thing. I have spent many years of my life worrying about when this date will come, and if I will be alive when the end of the world comes. Theology has taught me that no matter what happens, no one is able to predict the end of the world. The dates that have already been predicted are just people trying to relate recent events with stories in The Bible. Everyone believes the world will end in their lifetime, but one thing I have learned is no one truly knows when this date will come, but when it does whoever is still remaining will then be with God forever. The course of Theology has changed my outlook on the end of the world. I now realize it is just people trying to make sense of their own lives, by relating their lives to ancient stories of The Bible.
We did not watch the Bible movie in class, but I followed the link on my syllabus to understand the video. The link brings up many different student movies that depict stories from the Bible in more modern situations. The student movies include: Jeremiah 7, Jeremiah 27-28, Jeremiah 32, Jeremiah 36, The Real World: Jerusalem, Rashomon Resurrection, 8 Cubit, The Prophet Moses Show, Jermiyahu Springer, Minor Prophets, Prophetic Jeopardy, and Enuma Elish. All of these videos star past Theology students depicting their version of a biblical story. I think this is a wonderful way for student to learn how to visually understand the material.
Based on my blog entries this semester, I feel that I should receive an A for my final grade. Although all of my blogs were not completed by the end of each week, I still devoted my time to completing the blogs. I spent an enormous amount of time on my blogs throughout the semester, and I always met the criteria provided. I completed all 15 blogs throughout the semester, and I finished them before the due date. Each blog contained a set of questions or specific topics that should be explained. In each blog I answered all of the questions, and I never neglected to answer all parts of the question. Along with the questions answered, I also met the 1000 word minimum each week. In fact, I exceeded that minimum with each and every blog. Some of my blogs did contain grammatical errors, but overall I feel that my blogs have been written in a formal manner. I feel that my communication through my blogs was extremely efficient. Not only did I answer the material asked, but I also provided clear and concise answers for each question. I feel that if someone had never taken the Theology course, that person could read my past blogs and get a good insight as to how the course is structured and what criterion was covered throughout the semester. The blogs were not just thrown together; I put a lot of thought into the information I explained in each blog. Along with the blogs, I feel that my project truly made a difference in the world. By devoting my time, I truly believe my project helped improve poverty. My project provided food for hungry children and because of my project local elementary school children can live to see another day. I also feel that my project was beneficial because it did not only cover one aspect of the issue. Volunteering at a food back was not the only task performed in my project. I feel that the canned food drive was also a major success. By organizing the drive, my partners and I, learned how important responsibility and teamwork can be. The outcome of the food drive was a success; we received many donations that will in turn be helpful to people on the verge of starvation. My project has truly made an impact on my own life, and I hope to continue my path in bettering the world.
