My accomplishments for this project thus far are remarkable. I never thought that I would be able to accomplish so much in such a little time. So far we have had 12 weeks or 3 months to have a fully functional and operational project. To have an actual project in full swing with accomplishments in such a short time shows dedication and commitment to the project of choice. As choosing my project to be sort of a spin off to an organization that I am already involved in is to help expand Girls First and which will help to eliminate poverty in New Orleans as well as in the nation. So far the accomplishments range from personal accomplishments to actual full fact accomplishments.
To start I want to talk about the actual accomplishments of the organization that I have helped to evolve. We have organized four more meeting for the girls in this organization so that they are able to become more involved throughout the year. Because the organization is under flourished and we do not have as much money as other big orginizations we cannot afford to have social events every week but we do try to have these events at least once a month. However with my recent accomplishments to help raise money and sponsors we are now able to add four more events to our active social calendar for this year. This will leave us with a planned event every three weeks as well as another opportunity. The second accomplishment that is a spin off from the one stated above is that we now can give 2 scholarships to two of our alumnae chapter participants. Due to the large amount of money that was raised at our last gala we have enough to plan four more social activities and give two 1,500 scholarships. Another large accomplishment that has been made since the beginning of this project is that I have expanded to other states reaching out a hand to help girls in other neighboring states. I have written 2 letters to schools in Texas and in Mississippi asking them to be a part of our organization. (Blog
Since these letters were sent and received I have scheduled a meeting and prospective figures for these schools hoping that they will to join us in our mission to help these underprivileged children. As the initiator of this programs expansion I have also met so personal accomplishments that have not only help me as an individual but to also help me become a better student.
To help improve the world huh???? Well I guess I have to look at it on a small level first. In New Orleans I have helped be motivation and inspiration to hundreds of girls. Girls First helps these ladies by providing them with features such as supervised instruction in swimming, team and individual sports, outdoor recreational activities, nutrition, and health education. As well as the physical features they are also provided with mental help and stability, help with school (tuition and supplies as well as tutoring) and active regiments to help them plan for the future. By helping these young ladies become more productive teenagers and students I am helping them to realize their actual potential and teaching them how to achieve their goals. When these girls see what they can accomplish despite what their background states they learn that they can make a difference and become functional successful individuals. When they reach the age to be functional adults in the world they will be more aware of what needs to be done to help alleviate poverty. When we help the future generations I hope that they to will help generations to come helping not only our city and state but our nation and world. Poverty is a growing problem and won’t be eliminated easily but hopefully we are taking the necessary steps to help start the process of reconciliation. My goal is to impact the lives of as many individuals as possible not only girls. The only reason why my main focus is on women is because we have children that must be raised and some of those individuals will become men someday and without the proper supervision and parental guidance then they to can help eliminate the cycle of poverty. I hope that my efforts will not go in vein and that these girls will learn about the struggles that can be alleviated with proper education, better healthcare and proper nutrition for their wellbeing. I want them to know that they will not always have to be classified or alienated because they came from less but they can work for more and that they can accomplish whatever they set as a realistic goal. Hopefully this is the motivation that they need to make it to the next level.
Jesus was crucified for many reasons. The most famous are Jesus death was to be painful and shameful. His public humiliation was not a peaceful end to a long lived life. Jesus was hated for the crime that was stated above his cross. Jesus was hated by Romans for being the King of the Jews. He was also despised by Jews for claiming to be the King of the Jews. It was seen to be an insult to claim to be the messiah and king of his people. The Romans had an assortment of means by which to carry out a judicial execution; some, such as beheading, were quicker and less painful than crucifixion. Death by crucifixion was reserved for particular crimes and particular classes. Crucifixion was commonly regarded as not only painful but also the most shameful of deaths. Essentially, it was reserved for those who were seen as raising their hands against Roman rule or those who in some other way seemed to challenge the social order. Slaves were also crucified this way to be made of an example.
