Week 9: Implementation

My project is going better than I expected.  I am almost done editing my video and I hope to post it on YouTube very soon.  It is very unfortunate that I was only able to make the video and not the other stuff.  I must admit I got caught up with all my other classes, but I think that the video is going to be great and that many people will find it interesting. I worked really hard to make it interesting and informative at the same time.  As I mentioned before in an earlier blog, I went around Xavier’s campus and interviewed many students to see how much they know about Islam and to know their opinion about it.  To my surprise many people agreed to participate. About ten people agreed to participate in the interview. Even though the semester is almost over and I made a video, I didn’t want to stop there.  As a result, I got together with other Xavier students and we have decided to establish an MSA (Muslim Student Association) here at Xaiver University.  This organization will allow Xavier students to learn about each other’s culture and beliefs so that we can all come together as one community.   MSA will not only be for Muslim students, its main purpose is for Muslim and non-Muslim students to join so that we can bridge the gap between us.  This is the first real project for me to ever do on my own, but I think it is going well.  I will definitely continue my project after the semester is over.  I may do more videos, make the brochure I wanted to do, and the Facebook group.

The Deuteronomistic Historian was the author of Joshua, Judges, 1-2 Samuel, and 1-2 Kings.  A person which makes a good king, according to the Deuteronomistic Historian, must meet the following criteria:  1) he must not be arrogant 2) he must follow the law (he must not be above the law) 3) he must not be greedy 4) he must sacrifice for his people 5) he must encourage his people to worship God and follow the laws 6) he must not take advantage of his power.  If a man meets these criteria, then he will make a good king according to the Deuteronomistic Historian.

I don’t think that the Deuteronomistic Historian would approve of George W. Bush because he is greedy, does not sacrifice himself but rather his won people, and he takes advantage of his power.

Well David did many bad things as a result of his attraction to Bathsheba.  The story begins with David watching her bathe.  David is instantly attracted to her.  Bathsheba and David slept together while her husband, Uriah, was in battle.  She got pregnant from David; as a result, David sent a letter for Uriah to come back to his wife so he can sleep with her.  He did this so Uriah can think that Bathsheba became pregnant from him.  However, Uriah told David that he couldn’t sleep with his wife while his brothers were in battle.  As a result, David sent Uriah with a letter to give to his commander.  The letter commanded that Uriah be put in the front line of battle and when the opponent attacked everyone but Uriah pulled back.  Uriah died and Bathsheba’s son also died later. Nathan talked to David and told him story.  He told him that there was a man that had many many sheep and another man that only had one sheep.  The man with all the sheep had a party and insted of taking one of his sheep he took the man’s only sheep.  David told Nathan that it was wrong for the man to do that and he wanted to kill that man.  Nathan told him that he was that man that had everything and took the other man’s only woman.  David felt bad so he repented.

The first temple was built by Solomon. He built it out of pure gold and the arch of the covenant was brought to it.  The Babylonians came and destroyed it. They rebuilt it and it became the second temple.  After they built the second temple, the Macabees came in and destroyed it again.  They didn’t rebuild it after the Macabees destroyed it.

You have a very good project. I can say that I don’t really know that much about the Muslim culture and I would like to know more but there has never been some one to talk about it. So, what you are doing is a great way to make it so that non Muslims learn about your culture. I am looking forward to seeing your video.

I am glad to hear that your project is going well. I really like how you are creating a YouTube video to educate people about the Muslim culture and religion. I also like how you are creating a Muslim Student Association at school. I am sure many people will benefit from your project and they will be more informed about what the Muslim religion is all about.
