Dear President Obama,

In the state of Louisiana there are many problems associated with the healthcare system.  Many people are progressing in life without receiving proper medical treatment.  This problem affects the elderly, parents, parents to be, and children.  Many people who are uninsured are either out of work or they are just unaware of the medical assistance that is available to them.  No one should be unable to receive medical assistance in time of need.

This problem is important to me because I see many teens diagnosed with diseases, young ladies are having children, and I have even witnessed some of my elders being left with a choice between medicine or groceries.  My heart goes out to these people.

I am a student at Xavier University.  I am one of the fortunate students that was blessed with parents that can provide medical insurance for me.  But, there are some students who are not as fortunate.  Living in a world knowing that something can happen any day that will require you to need immediate medical attention and the help cannot be provided for you because of a lack of insurance is a hard life to love.  I am contacting you because I feel that you can make a change to get the word out about the available help and find the right means for people to receive this help.

Blog copies of these letters and why you thought these four were best suited to help change the problem. Later blog the responses you get. What does God’s house tell us about God? How is the idea of “Promised Land” problematic? How is African American criticism a useful tool to Bible scholars?

I chose these four people because I feel that they are the ones who can and will be heard.  They all play a huge part in society and I feel if people in need heard how much they cared then they might actually go a step further and apply those steps to get the help they need.                                                                                                                                God’s house tells us how pure He is.  It symbolizes a new beginning and a fresh start.  The “Promised Land” can be seen as problematic because it was taken over by conquering, not just a “promise” made by God.  The Israelites knew this was their land, so they set out to claim it. African American criticism is a useful tool to Bible scholars because it gives information about other racial ethnicities described in the Bible. Before, the Bible was only one sided but now we can see the role of Africa and its nations and how they affected the Bible.
