Week 9: Implementation

Over the last few weeks I, along with the committee that was put together, have been working hard to get things in order for the implementation of my project. We have had some success as well as some set backs in getting everything that we need for the seminar to take place. Finding people who are infected in the age group that we are attempting to target to speak with our audience is not turning out too well. On the up side, however, getting together an attentive audience with the advertising that we are doing seems to be working very well. We have decided to send some of the local committee member to the various high schools to give the students initiative to find it worth their time to attend the seminar. Also, on the college campuses, we have posted flyers with information pertaining to the seminar that will hopefully persuade those students to attend. We are trying to get some entertainment but those people will have to be paid and since this is a small project, we have to start off small. I’m not sure how successful we will be in getting the entertainment that we are striving for, but we can have something like a poetry contest or a singing contest with judges and prizes for the winning participants.
We have been receiving some outside help to make the seminar a success. There are some local organizations and some local churches that are giving us donations to start the project, and possibly have more than one seminar, but we have to see how successful the first seminar will be before we start planning another one. We also have some churches that are participating in the seminar, but we are trying to keep most of the people that will be attending including the committee to a certain age group to keep the participants feeling as comfortable as possible. One other thing is that we will not be able to keep having the same seminar with all the same attractions in the same area every time. For the most part, our target audience will remain the same but there will be something that we will have to change every time so that people don’t get bored with the same things happening at each seminar. The entertainment we are seeking may actually turn out to be some local young music groups who are looking to get some exposure.
So far, we have settled that we will make it fun for the participants by having the food, and we will also have an initiative to get people tested. Of the people who get tested, one person will win a Mac notebook, one person will win a $200 American Express gift card and a third person will win two tickets to see Beyonce in concert in New Orleans this summer. Also everyone who gets tested will receive an HIV/AIDS t-shirt as an initiative to get more people to get tested. One of our main goals is to be sure that the participants are aware of the risks and that they understand how important it is to know their status. Another one of our main goals is to get the participants to understand the risks and to know that this disease can affect anyone regardless of their social status or how much money they have. HIV/AIDS is seriously affecting the world, and if this seminar helps at least one of the participants to know their status, learn something that they didn’t know about the disease, or help someone who has the disease, I will feel that I have accomplished something important because each one of those people will have the ability to affect someone else’s life and it becomes a chain reaction from that point forward. With all of the help that we are receiving and all of the information and assistance that we will be able to provide will be worth the while and it will definitely make this seminar and success and lead to many more seminars.
According to the Deuteronomistic Historian a good king is one that follows a behavioral code known as the Deuternomic Code that is written by Moses in the book of Deuteronomy. The most important thing that a good king must possess is faith in God. A good king must also follow God’s commandments. I absolutely do not think that the Deuteronomistic Historian would approve of George W. Bush simply because he started a war that was completely unnecessary and thanks to him the entire country is suffering. Because of this war, so many innocent people have lost their lives and it is proving to be a pointless war in the eyes of many Americans. Instead of doing the most important thing which is going to God or asking the country to go down in prayer, the first thing George W. Bush did was start a war, and I doubt seriously that the Deuteronomistic Historian would approve of that type of behavior.
King David noticed Bathsheba during her ritual bath which meant that she was not pregnant. While Bathsheba’s husband is away fighting in the war, Bathsheba becomes pregnant with King David’s baby, so David calls for her husband to come home. Bathsheba tries to get her husband to sleep with her but he refuses to because he’s fighting a holy war. Because Bathsheba’s husband will not sleep with her, David must do something so he make Bathsheba’s husband carry his own death letter to Johab and he eventually dies in the war. That is what I believe most people would consider the worst thing that David did.
The Jerusalem Temple was constructed by Solomon. In the court of the Temple was the altar, bronze stands and a bronze sea with 12 bulls that was used for washing the priests hands. On the inside of the Temple, which is called the Holy Place were 10 lampstands that were burned continuously and tables of showbread to show appreciation for God providing them food. The Most Holy Place (Holy of Holies) is the room where the Ark of the Covenant and the cherubim is kept. The first Temple is destroyed by King Nebuchanzzar and a second Temple begins beings built when Sheshbazzar and some of the exiles return and start laying the foundation, but they are unable to complete the Temple.

It great that you did your project on HIV and AIDS. I like your idea about holding a seminar to educate people. I also like how you are going to have a HIV and AIDS test site. I am sure a lot of people will benefit from your project and they will appreciate what you are doing.
