Blog exactly what you have done to improve the world regarding your project. This blog does not involve future plans, but actual things you have done this semester to implement your project. Post at least one more picture about your project. Why was Jesus crucified?

I currently have no pictures of my project but as soon as possible I will get some up.

When I gave an update of my project I actually described every detail that I’ve done so far. So I will be reposting what I stated then. So far my project has been going pretty good. I’ve met many new kids since I’ve been volunteering. Some are very eager to learn while others are forced to be there by their parents. The age of my students range from six to thirteen. Most of my younger students have a problem with completing their homework. They are mostly concerned with going outside and play! However I don’t allow them to play until all homework is complete. I try to create fun ways to make them want to do their homework. I sometimes call competitions to see who could actually complete their work first. One of my students favorite games is the spelling bee. This helps them when they have to remember how to spell words for their test. I have a few kids who are having difficulty reading. Mostly around the age of six and seven. Most of the kids that struggle with their reading skills do very well with math. Go figure! My older kids have been struggling preparing for the LEAP test. Most of them are excited about entering high school but the one thing holding them back is the LEAP test. We did many exercises to help them prepare for their week of testing such as timed quizzes, and test. Besides the leap test my older students were doing well. They completed all of their homework but had a few issues with study skills. They didn’t perform as well on test as they could have because they were never properly taught how to study. I took a lot of time with my older kids helping them to prepare for test when they were approaching. The only thing that has really changed since then is I have noticed a recent grade increase in a few of my students. The ones with the most potential worked there hardest and made the honor roll. They were really excited and so were the parents. All of these kids have the potential to do well and all I did was give them the hope to try there best. I absolutely love working with these kids and my older kids are still awaiting there leap test results.

Overall my project is going well. Hopefully my students have a successful school year. I’m not exactly sure if I’ve changed the world, but I definitely  know that I’ve changed the lives of a group of kids. If  everyone could do small works of kindness like myself, we might be surprised how fast we see the world make a change.

Jesus Christ was crucified for two types of reasons a spiritual one and an actual one. The actual reason for Jesus’ crucifixion goes as followed. According to the gospels, the main charge against Jesus was that he claimed to be the king of the Jews. The Jews had gone through generations of oppression from the Romans. They had constantly prayed for a Messiah to come and save them. The only thing is that the Messiah they prayed for was supposed to help them to save themselves from the hands of the Roman people. Instead of the Romans oppressing the Jews, the Messiah would come and turn the tables around. When Jesus came, the total opposite happened. The Jews were under the impression the Messiah would be a great warrior, and Jesus came preaching a message of love. He even went so far as to say that is any harm is done to you that you should turn the other cheek. This was not at all what the Jews had in mind. So now not only was there someone claiming to be Messiah, but this person also offered them no assistance in things they were going through. This led to an outspread of anger. Although most thought that Jesus was not who he said he was, he still had quite a large number of followers. Eventually a way was found to charge Jesus with committing a crime. Their hatred was so strong for Jesus that when given the option of whether they would let a mad rapist go free, or let Jesus go free, they chose to let the rapist go. It is quite ironic to me to think that there was such hatred for Jesus, who taught the message of love everywhere he went. Even while being crucified, he was still concerned for others, and he forgave them for their ignorance.  It was after they hung and killed Jesus that they began to think that they’d somehow made a mistake. Although was wrong for them to kill Jesus, if they would not have done it, no one would be able to have eternal life. So in a sense it was inevitable, it had to happen. The spiritual reasons for Jesus’ crucifixion is to save us from our sins. It is said that before Adam and Eve God knew that he would sacrifice his only son to save his people. Adam and Eve were the first human creations of God and they committed the sin of disobedience. Jesus lived all his years on earth without sin and he was sent to set an example. Even though Jesus was the son of God he was still human. Jesus wept when his best friend died, he was angry when people gambled in his house, and Jesus even felt forsaken by God at his lowest point. While Jesus was on the cross even though he felt forsaken, he still asked God to forgive the people that hurt him.
