Dear Mayor Ray Nagin,

My name is Whitney Cantrelle and I am writing to your gain support in my efforts to increase the awareness of HIV/AIDS in and around our community. There are many ways in which you can help me in these efforts.  I have planned to host a seminar which will educated those who are not infected by the disease and tell them how to stay that way, those who may or may not be infected and wish to know their status, and those who are affected.

My hope is that I am able to establish an onsite testing station and people around to answer any questions that they may have about HIV or AIDS. This project is a non-profit one and our sole goal is to help the community and fight off this epidemic. I am asking for your support in whatever form it may be. I would also like to have a person there to stand as a role model and support for these people, just to show them that they are not in this battle alone. For this reason I am asking for your presence or for you to send another representative on your behalf at this event so that the community to can see that you really care about the state of this condition and you are striving toward the betterment of the community in every way possible.

Please take into consideration the state of our community and how many people who are out there that do not know if they are infected and who are possibly spreading the disease to innocent people. This is something that we want to prevent at all costs and we want to stop this multiplication of this disease all together. If there is anything at all that you can do to help in these efforts please do not hesitate to do so.

I believe that these four people were best suited to help in my efforts to change this problem because I think of these people as being very proactive in striving for and developing better communities, states, countries, and a better world as a whole. The fact that this disease in not quarantined to one segment of the world is why I wanted to tackle the problem at every corner of society. I believe if I can get all these people together and on the same page, something wonderful can come out of it at the end.

In response to the letters that I sent out, Mayor Ray Nagin said that he would be able to attend the seminar and possibly give a speech and help promote the education and knowledge of this very important issue in our community. The Pope sent his prayers because he will not be able to participate physically. President Obama has not yet been able to respond, but if and when I receive his response I will let everyone know. The President of XU, Norman C. Francis, said that he would be more than happy to be involved in this event and he will do whatever he can to support us because he is very concerned about the state of our community. I also sent an additional letter to Oprah Winfrey because I know that she is very active in promoting the need to be educated about this issue. She is sending financial assistance to help our seminar run smoothly and help it to be as effective as possible. Oprah mentioned that she would consider possible hosting another seminar in which she will be able to be active in and possibly provide financial assistance to those who are affected by the disease to help them go one to live a better and more prosperous life.

The idea of the Promised Land is problematic because  although it is called the Promised Land, Moses, who is ironically the person it is promised to is never allowed to enter. He can only view the promised land and then he dies. Another reason why it is problematic is because God sent the Israelites to a land that was already inhibited.

God’s house tells us a lot about His strength and power. God is most high and most powerful and his house is spoken of in John 14.

African American criticism is a useful tool to bible scholars because it helps them to understand the ancient African civilization.
