Week 09: Implementation

1240 words by aminias

My project is off to a good start. I talked to the priest at my Church about running a food drive there. He was really glad once I had told him that and he even gave me some great advice on how I should go about doing it. He told me he is going to make an announcement the next Sunday to the entire congregation so that people can start donating. I am still trying to book an appointment at a food bank. A lot of them were booked for the entire month.  Hopefully, I can get an appointment set, but if I can’t, I will try to run a larger scale food drive. I will probably run one here at school and I can try to pass out flyers. I will even set up a facebook group to make people aware of the problem of world hunger. I will post facts about this issue and I will also post nutritional facts about eating healthy, because I feel that poor nutrition is an issue that is directly related to the issue of world hunger.  Many people who cannot afford food will eat whatever they can get their hands on and this is not good because not all food is good for one’s health. I feel that awareness is a key factor in to trying to help solve any issue that exists in the world and that is a very effective method to get people involved. My main focus right now though, is to try to find a volunteer opportunity at a food bank.  I am really disappointed at the fact that I can’t find an open time slot at a food bank. A lot of the time slots they gave me were in the morning, during school, because the afternoon slots were already booked. Therefore, I would have to miss class to volunteer. I will definitely keep trying until a find a food bank that has a suitable time slot for me and I will be more than glad to volunteer my time there.

A good king, to the Deuteronomistic historian, is someone who is loyal and faithful to both God and his people. He is someone that enforces the law and religion to all of his people. He is supposed to be both a political and religious figure. He is like a religious mentor to all of his people, in the sense that he should be able to guide his people and to make sure they do not stray away from the path to God. As a strong political figure, a good king has to make sure that his laws are well enforced and that his people follow them. Also, a good king is supposed to put God and his people before himself. Basically, he is supposed to protect his people and to make sure they are safe.

I am not exactly sure if the Deuteronomistic historian will approve of George W. Bush. First of all, George W. Bush is a political figure and not a religious figure. In the old days, religion and politics were intertwined. During the time of the Deuteronomistic historian, religion was the basis of law, but now politics and religion are separate. Nowadays, religion usually does not interfere with politics. Although George W. Bush is Christian and believes in God, he probably never enforced certain laws based on his religion. If he did it was probably a rare instance. For example, George Bush does not force anyone to follow a certain religion or to believe in a certain god. On the other hand, kings back then usually forced their people to follow a certain religion and if they did not they could be killed or imprisoned. According to the Deuteronomistic historian, a good king is one who protects his people and never lets them down. I personally feel that George Bush put many people in danger by sending thousands of soldiers to Iraq. He also let down many people down during the events of Hurricane Katrina. Although he made many mistakes during his presidency, I feel that he did the best he could during many of the events that occurred.

One of the mistakes David made was committing adultery with Bathsheba. David saw Bathsheba taking a bath and he began to lust for her. So he goes and commits adultery by sleeping with her. He was told that she was the wife of Uriah, who was a Hittite soldier. David did not suppress the evil thoughts that caused him to commit this sin, but instead he fell to the temptation and he slept with her. As a result of his sin, Bathsheba becomes pregnant. Then David tries to get Uriah to sleep with his wife so it will seem like her husband is the father of the child and not David, but Uriah refuses.  Then he makes an even greater mistake by arranges for Uriah to be put on the front line when the battle begins, so that he will get killed. After Uriah’s death, David marries Bathsheba to make sure his sin is completely covered up.  After Nathan confronts him for what he has done, David begins to feel sorry for what he did and he repents to God. Unfortunately for David, God cursed his child and it dies after seven days.

The Jerusalem temple, according to Wikipedia, is a series of structures located on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. The most important features of the Jerusalem temple is the Holy of Holies, which was a sacred sanctuary where the Tabernacle was located. Only the High Priest can enter it once each year. They would tie a rope around the High Priest, in case he died while still in the Holy of Holies. There were two temples that were built. The first temple that was built was Solomon’s Temple that was built in the 10th century BCE. The temple was destroyed by the Babylonians in 586 BCE at the time of the Babylonian captivity. The Second Temple was built after the Jews returned to Jerusalem from the Babylonian captivity, which was around 537 BCE. This temple was later destroyed by the Romans. Then the temple was rebuilt and expanded by Herod the Great around 19 BCE. Then the temple was destroyed again in 70 BCE.

This project is basically like my project as you want to tackle both sides of the nutrition issue. I think that you are doing a great job implementing your project. Getting the word out is the first step. Great job with everything. Hopefully it will continue on into the future.
